AES/EBU DB25 Pinout Guide | Sweetwater
August 10, 2022 - The tricky part is making sure you have the right type of DB25 connector. There are two standard pin arrangements for DB25 AES/EBU connectors. One DB-25 connector is commonly known as the Tascam pinout, and the other DB-25 connector is referred to as the Yamaha pinout.

DB25 serial cable pinout?
Hi all, After an hour of googling, I concede to ask this seemingly dumb question here; How is a typical printer cable wired? Is it as I suspect; 17 usable signal pins, and 8 pins that are clustered together to be used as GND? Or are there components hidden in the connector? More on forum.arduino.cc

I don't usually use the other wires as I typically either edon't use handshaking or I short RTS (DB9 pin 7) and CTS (DB9 pin 8)together. ... Very confused about db25 wires
In my experience, it's really dependent on what kind of receipt printer it is; my job has a few DB25 handshakes for either the computer or printer end for a few different models of printers, and I know on at least 2 of them the pinouts are totally different between them, on both ends. Documentation for the printer should have more details as to the serial pins. Edit: That being said, a standard LPT cable should work, but I'm guessing that's what you got. You can always use a CAT5 with 2 unpinned handshakes and go nuts if all else fails. More on reddit.com
Any common wisdom on DB25 connectors?
Easiest route is go with redco. Solid vendor and they provide support if you were to ever need it. Digikey is great if you know exactly what you need to piece everything together out of the tons of options they have. But with redco it's all laid out for you very clearly. I use digikey for electronic parts and components when I'm repairing or building. But for anything connectors i go with redco. Crimp connections are great. I prefer them over soldering if I'm doing a field installation where a soldering iron isn't feasible. If I'm doing a cable or multiple and I can use my work bench then I might go with solder. Note that digital devices that transmit AES3 digital audio data (sometimes referred to as AES/EBU) use a different wiring pinout (see below); analog and digital multi-pin breakout cables and/or patch bays are not interchangeable. To wire a custom cable for use with the analog DB25 jacks on a Aviom product, use the following table: DB25 Pin Number Cable Number 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 No Connect Hot 24 10 21 7 18 4 15 1 13 Cold 12 23 9 20 6 17 3 14 Ground 25 11 22 8 19 5 16 2
