Sorry if this has been flogged to death, but I figure it’s good to keep the discussion up-to-date!
I’ve recently picked up a 14700k and I’m wondering which motherboards are the way to go, or rather, which ones to avoid. Eyeing off the Z790 chipset.
Budget is $500 AUD, but would prefer not to spend any more than I have to.
Thanks in advance.
If not, is it worth saving and upgrading my setup? I bought prebuilt about 6-7 years ago.
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4770 Processor
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (Upgraded 2 years ago from gtx 660)
RAM: 8GB DDR3
HDD: 1TB
SSD: 250GB (added about a year ago)
Mobo: Dell XPS 8700 Intel Desktop Motherboard CN-0KWVT8
I read recently that 5th gen i7 Intel processors only support DDR4 RAM and not DDR3 RAM. So why does my motherboard (GIGABYTE GA-Z97X) support 4th and 5th gen Intel processors but you need DDR4 memory to use 5th Gen Intel processors, but my motherboard has DDR3?
I'm trying to build a high end csgo LAN pc that's super easy to move around and can move around on a daily basis. I want to put DDR4 in my machine although I don't know if the i7 can support it or not. I can't find any information online (or I'm just not looking in the right place)
does anyone know if it does and can support proof?
