The most commonly seen debug error codes on ASRock motherboards, and how to fix them
February 28, 2024 - Unlike other motherboards made by brands like Asus and MSI, the ASRock boards feature this LED towards the bottom, and it's typically found next to the fan headers or the power or reset buttons.

r/ASRock on Reddit: Official Solution: Disable Dr. Debug LED on ASRock X670E mobos (and potentially all AM5 boards)
April 27, 2023 -

There is a missing option in the ASRock X670E motherboard BIOS, which would allow you to shut off the Debugging LED upon startup. This is available on older boards, but not on my X670E Taichi. Instead, it currently reads out the CPU temps all the time by default. Thankfully, I reached out to ASRock and with some help, got a program that solves the issue and is now downloadable directly from ASRock's website.

  • Download, unzip, and run this program: https://download.asrock.com/TSD/Desktop/Tool/DBGLED.zip This will shut off the LED. Run again to turn it back on.

  • Follow these steps to run it automatically at startup. I set mine to run upon workstation login from the Task Scheduler (accounts for going in and out of sleep mode). https://stackoverflow.com/questions/12491364/how-to-run-application-exe-before-windows-startup

If you're curious on how this program was acquired and why it is safe, see my post here. There is no word on whether or not this will become a feature in a later BIOS update. Currently tested on X670E Taichi (Carrara) with BIOS v1.18. From my understanding this should work on all ASRock AM5 boards, but I can't confirm that. Feel free to comment below with other confirmed working mobos/bios's.

June 19, 2020 -

Is there a way to turn these off after booting up? Im left with an F8 on mine, not sure why, or what this means "F8 - Recovery PPI is not available ". Is there even a way to make them disappear till you need them.

Thanks

Dr Debug Codes

Seems that no one on the internet knows what Recovery PPI is, strange.

edit: seems to be bios flashing related, system works perfectly, so I'm confused by this.

How to interpret the motherboard's Debug LEDs
September 15, 2025 - On many GIGABYTE motherboards, for example, They appear below the ATX connector in a 2×2 matrix, while in other brands they form a horizontal row just above the ATX. Each manufacturer gives them their own commercial name: at MSI they are known as EZ Debug LEDs, ASUS calls them Q-LED and GIGABYTE identifies them as Status LEDs. ASRock, for its part, maintains a direct nomenclature (CPU/DRAM/VGA/BOOT) similar to the generic one and very easy to recognize.

Motherboard Lights Meaning: Complete Debug LED 2026 Guide
September 17, 2025 - MSI’s EZ Debug LED system uses similar four-LED configuration but adds flashing patterns. Solid lights indicate detection failures, while flashing suggests initialization issues. Check your best AMD motherboards for model-specific patterns. GIGABYTE boards often include additional status LEDs beyond the main four. Some models feature numbered POST codes (two-digit displays) providing more specific error information than simple LEDs. ASRock’s Dr.

I'm not sure of the accuracy of this but this is me referencing the Level1Techs forum for Dr. Debug codes list . F3 Recovery firmware image found 15 and 43 01 - 54 (except 0d), 5A- 60 Problem related to memory. Please re-install the CPU and memory then clear CMOS. If the problem still exists, please install only one memory module or try using other memory modules. 94 PCI Bus Enumeration 32 The first and last (to me) don't make a whole lot of sense, but the numeral ranges do. It could very well be a memory issue. You might try removing one stick from either A2 or B2 and try letting it run on one stick. If that doesn't remedy it, then you're going to have to play musical chairs with the memory try one stick in A2 try the same stick in B2 use the other stick and repeat with A2 and B2 If this doesn't work, you'll have to try running in the most minimalist hardware setup just to see if you can at least see the post screen. Remove all front panel connections Leave only one stick of memory in A2 Remove the NVME drive Unplug any connected SATA drives If it starts to post, start with reinstalling the NVME drive on M2_1. If you get no post, move it to M2_2 (this happened to me once and it did POST and boot to Windows - I'll link the story -- here -- at the end of the day and through various amounts of testing and sending the board back to the authorized distributor here in Japan, it turned out to be the CPU that was defective. ) If you get past POST from either NVME drive, then plug in a second stick of memory and adding on things so on and so forth until something doesn't work/POST. If you still can't get it to POST, you may end up having the same issue that I did or the motherboard failed....but generally the most "weird" issues are often due to memory issues.
