There are plenty of ocean documentaries, but I want to see one that specifically focuses on the bizarre and interesting animals that live down there.
I was on Reddit not too long ago and some people talked about a TV series called Deep Blue I think. I'm not sure if I got the name wrong or not but all I'm looking for is a good documentary or two about the ocean and the deep sea. Is there any that are out there? Which ones are good ones?
Videos
I have seen a few (mostly IMAX) documentaries about the deep sea, showing the creatures and what not. I was wondering if anyone knew of any other good doc's on the deep sea. (Creatures, landforms, exploration, treasure hunts, etc.)
I figure this would be the place to ask - I was wondering where I could find some really cool deep sea documentaries? Preferably HD quality if possible?
I don't have cable so only online resources for me. I've found some sites but even getting 480p quality is considered lucky. I'd rather not have to torrent any but I'm open to it if its my only option I guess.
Thanks!
The TED talk about bioluminescence is pretty good. If you want to laugh too watch the "True Facts" videos on YouTube. Have a few on deep sea creatures
If you have Netflix, James Cameron did a Doc on going down the Mariana Trench. Deepsea Challenge I think it's called. It looks really cool, but it is more about the process of building and testing a sub than the creatures down there. The animals they do show look almost CGI enhanced, too, which I thought was unneeded.
What are everybody favorite HD (at least 720p) documentaries about exploring the ocean and its mysterious depths? On cold days I love cuddling up in blankets, drinking some hot cocoa, and watching these interesting explorations into the deep sea. Problem is that I don't see them as often as I'd like on TV :(
Looking forward to your recommendations!
Greetings fellow marine biologists!
I am currently looking for documentaries about the deep sea! I’ve already watched a bunch while in quarantine and I’m currently on the lookout for more! So if anyone know any dedicated documentaries or any episode of a doxumentary please reccomend me!
I feel like watching a documentary about some crazy, alien-looking deep sea life. could be a part of a TV show like planet earth or a feature length.
Edit: why the hell would anyone down vote this??
Watched this lastnight and it’s really good and informative. James Cameron does a wonderful job on this! I got chills when he finally made it 27,000ft down and said “I’m beyond rescue”. Watching them build this submersible was crazy cool. I watched on prime free with ads.
I love watching documentaries about the oceans and all the animals that live there; stuff that just explores the ocean depths and that kind of thing. Are there any good documentaries out there on say youtube or Netflix? Thanks!
I have always loved videos that take you to the depths below and show even the smallest things that lurk above the seabed. I know there is a Planet Earth episode about it, but is there anything else/better?
Since a lot of us are under quarantine and can't be inside the ocean, watching documentaries about the oceans, marine life and the great wonders of the sea, could be a good supplement, right?
Our three favorites are:
Blue Planet (I and II),
The Great Barrier Reef, and
Ocean Giants.
Have you seen them?
Which ones did you like? Was there something that you didn't like?
Which is your favorite ocean docu?
I'm just after watching Amazing Creatures of the Deep Ocean [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5ny6KJuKhs ] and it was awesome. Looking for any other decent deep sea exploration docs that anyone might know of.
Thanks =)
This game is inspiring me to learn more about what is really out there in our actual ocean. I really admire that it has made me feel this way.
I figure you guys would know the essence of what it is I am looking for. I'd love to know more about the weird and mysterious parts of deep ocean life, rather than the general ocean itself.
I understand that any aspect of the ocean is incredible enough to learn more about, and is likely worth watching in action, but I'm currently more curious to know about the depths. Any suggestions?
Had a friend find a picture of the creepiest squid ever and now she's looking for more. She also loves cryptids and the like, so the freakier the better.
I would love to be a marine biologist but it would be a very long process for me because I live in a land locked state. I would like to still educate myself since I very much love the ocean, especially sharks. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Blue Planet 1 and 2.
If you’re into sharks, there’s a free cool documentary on 6 gills in Puget Sound out in seattle. You can find a bunch of decent stuff like this on YouTube if your strapped for cash. And just because your in a landlocked state doesn’t mean much; the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas has a really cool aquarium with some rare condrachthinians( sharks or shark-like fish) and Atlanta has a huge aquarium as well. A lot of landlocked states have places you can start learning more about it
