If your cooler uses the stock AMD backplate then any AM4 cooler will be compatible with AM5. If it uses a custom backplate then it most likely won't fit on AM5 and you'll need the manufacturer to send you an AM5 compatible backplate. Answer from Frikgeek on reddit.com

Compared against the AM4. I'd be interested in the Deepcool Assassin III, because it has 140mm fans. I asked DeepCool if the cooler was AM5 compatible. They said older models aren't, but they can help me get the additional hardware needed if I were to receive an older unit. So what does the AM5 additional hardware look like?

October 8, 2022 - Watching an installation video only shows using it with the backplate, and the bolts look thicker than what I have. My motherboard has threaded inserts and a backplate that can't be removed (am5). The bolts look like they should fit, and some go in further than others.

Since the metal motherboard socket back plate doesn't come off, you got an incompatible version that only meant to install in AM5 instead of the AM4/AM5 compatible version shown on DeepCool's website which I used to when answering your initial thread.

Is deepcool assassin iii compatible with 9800x3d/am5 motherboard? I cant find the original box so i might need to use whatever bracket fits onto my current am4 motherboard.
PC part picker says : "The Deepcool ASSASSIN III 90.37 CFM CPU Cooler may require a separately available mounting adapter to fit the Gigabyte X670 GAMING X AX V2 ATX AM5 Motherboard."

Any luck? I reached out to Deepcool and they told me they are out of stock on mounting kits. Sounds like we're SOL? Really don't want to buy another cooler.

Any updates? In theory newer batchs of it already included am5 support, look in the box, mine says am5 support on the back
