I imagine its trendy and cool to hate the big guy, or maybe its astroturfing/propaganda.
But has anyone actually used DeepSeek and got better answers? As much as I want to cancel my subscription, ChatGPT is still the best. Gemini isnt as good. LLaMa is pretty close to ChatGPT. DeepSeek is better than Mistral, but worse than LLaMa.
"Oh its cheaper"
I don't care. I need good answers. Cheaper is someone else's job.
ChatGPT seems best for asking questions about subjects. DeepSeek seems to not know about many subjects and hallucinates.
I'm curious if anyone has found DeepSeek better than ChatGPT. What was your Application?
Please provide what ChatGPT you are comparing it to, I typically use ChatGPT4.
Deepseek is 100% free and it’s super fast there’s search mode and deep search as well but on ChatGPT on free mode you only get a few prompts and then it makes you end the chat

Recently i was thinking what’s the best AI to use. I use GPT as an assistant to help me to write and synthesize my ideias, but searching more about others AIs, i was in doubt about which one would be better for it
My main task is data science competitions and research and always resort to any LLM available to ask for code snippets, DS approaches to try, or both. As DeepSeek (R1) is the only CoT free model i decided to give it a try.
ChatGPT produces more sensible results and (with the right prompting) the code works at first try. I can't say the same about DeepSeek. The advice it gives seems better at first, but when implemented, it is disappointing. Not to mention the 1-3 minute wait for the model to argue internally. About that, reading the "thoughts" of the model it repeats the same thing every 100 words.
Is DeepSeek better performing than ChatGPT? Is there any form of AI that's better than both of these?
I know DeepSeek is still too young and worse at ChatGPT apart from coding & research, but for those who have tried it how was your experience ? I'm talking specifically in term of helping you study for exams or brainstorming ideas and all that.
EDIT : I forgot to include this one the first time but if you do use any LLM at all do you pay for extra features or just make use of what's free ?
I've been trying out both the free versions of DeepSeek and ChatGPT, and I'm curious what others think.
From my experience so far:
DeepSeek seems faster and more concise.
ChatGPT feels smoother in conversation but can get repetitive.
DeepSeek handles code and technical prompts surprisingly well.
DeepSeek also seems more accurate — I haven’t seen it hallucinate yet. If it doesn’t know something, it just says so instead of making things up.
For those who’ve used both, which one do you prefer and why? Especially interested in real-world use like study help, coding, or summarizing stuff.
Let’s compare notes!
Title. I want to know which of them I should use to help me making programs and software.
Is deepseek really that good compared to chatgpt?? It seems like I see it everyday in my reddit, talking about how it is an alternative to chatgpt or whatnot...
i mostly use chatgpt for, well, chatting purposes. and conversationally speaking, chatgpt is unrivaled. so how is deepseek 'better'? is it ....better at seeking, or smth ...idk
Deepseek vs chatgpt, which ai is better for content creation
Hi folks, have any one used deepseek ai. which looks best chat-gpt or deepseek Ai? Suggestions pls
Hello, I'm an amateur writer looking to use AI to enhance my story while keeping my original "style". Basically, I want to use AI to refine my writing without altering it too much. From the ones I mentioned in my title, which AI model would be the best choice?
I've previously tried DeepSeek R1, ChatGPT, and Claude 3.7, but my experience with them has been hit or miss—sometimes they significantly improve my writing, while other times they make it feel like generic AI slop.
Are there any prompts or techniques that can be used to guide the AI towards following specific directions? Or is there simply a limit to how well these models can assist with creative writing? Any other AI recommendations would also be appreciated!
