If you meant that you want to close the search and get back to the location where you started the search then the only solution I know is to use the "Back" arrow button on the top left, and keep hitting it until the search closes. It's very annoying that the "Close Search" button disappears when you open any of the folders in the search hits. Like why would devs assume that I will not want to close the search and return to my initial location? Weird stuff.

Hi ,
I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.
Recent Searches is removed in Windows 11 File Explorer, however, go to Settings > Privacy & security > Search Permission > History > Clear Device Search History.
Does it work for you?
Videos
When I type something like VLC here, all of my VLC vids that I've watched appear here. I've tried clearing my Windows Explorer search history to no avail as well as clearing my history from within VLC. How can I do this?
If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a screenshot:

Hmmmmm which of those videos could you be possibly wanting to remove 🤔
For future reference, this is the easiest way to do it:
-
Open File Explorer
-
Click inside the search box in the top right corner. This will reveal the "Search" tab at the top of the screen, after "File", "Computer", and "View"
-
Search tab -> Recent searches -> Clear search history in the drop down menu
Doesn't get much easier than that.
