I paid $18 to pick up a package at my local post office. I don’t need to worry about anything do I? Been seeing a lot of mishaps lately here.

When the package arrives at your delivery office it will be scanned in with all of the other packages going out for delivery. There will be a fairly unmissable message that will pop up on the scanner to say the item is to be put aside for package intercept. If some people miss or ignore that message it will be sorted to be delivered to your address that day, assuming there's no other issue. At least as of now, the package intercept is one of the few things operating mostly as it should.

Honestly, I hate to say it, depends on your office. In the first, third, and this office most definitely the package would be gotten and held for you to get. We couldn’t have even charged the $18 if it was something addressed to you. The second office would have depended which of the four carrier supervisors you got. The forth office was so badly mismanaged when I was there you could have paid $100 and the carrier would just get yelled at the day after for delivering it when we weren’t given the heads up the day before. Edited to add, wife and I have lived in three different states. A couple big cities, all the way down to one town where you could toss a basketball from one end of the Main Street to the other. One post office handled 6 different zip codes (and that wasn’t the mismanaged one).

If I'm using USPS, I use eBay for the shipping labels. However, for large packages, I use UPS and drop off at the local shipping center.
This week, I had a brain cramp. I sold an item, but shipped while waiting payment. The address of the buyer was a shipping center, but after payment, the address appeared to be a hotel.
I went to the local UPS office to change the address, they told me to call the 1-800 number. I called the 1-800 number and they told me the address has to be changed by shipping center because it's under their account. I called the shipping center and they said, they cannot change it. Only the 1-800 can.
Finally a rep at the 1-800 number said, I cannot change the entire address and my only options are to return to sender or hold at a local UPS office.
Has anyone used the UPS Delivery Intercept. Is that the norm?
