After a change to the coin cell battery that fixed my PC for a couple of days, my PC now has 2 beep error codes.
When I start my PC it beeps twice in intervals. From Dell’s website it shows that it means no RAM detected.
I reseated the RAM and even tested them all individually.
Does anyone know what the problem is? Do I need to purchase new RAM? Do I need to buy I new motherboard?
Hopefully neither of these are the issue as I’m preferably looking for a free or cheap fix. I cant afford a repair at the moment. Thanks in advance for any help!

It would be unlikely that all of your RAM modules failed simultaneously, Try clearing CMOS by disconnecting power, removing your brand new CR2032 coin cell battery, hold in the power button for 30 seconds, put the battery back in, connect power, and see if she will boot.

Did you try the ram individually in different slots though? I know you tried individually but did you move to different slot incase the slot you are testing on is bad? I highly doubt a set of ram went bad at same time. New? I have had new sets be bad. I have yet to have a pair die in use at same time. Could be cpu, motherboard, bad powersupply not applying voltages at right spot and it thinks it is a ram failure.

then i thought the new pch is faulty, so i replace it with the old one, sadly the beeps still there. i bought 2 new PCH (each from a different supplier) and the problem still persist. i make sure that the PCH replacement is good, i use BGA rework station with 220C, i remove the solder on the pad with solder wick, and give small amount of flux to put the new one. at this point, im sure that the PCH is not the problem, from dell website, 7 beeps code means the problem is around the CPU or could be something else.

yep finaly found the problem cause on my case.. just look the picture, somehow the lower part of my lcd frame is bumpy a bit.. after i check it(open monitor frame) the case itself is wraping & stick something on bottom lcd that says 'dont touch' and seems very teriable.. #just make sure open lcd frame slowly & carefully if u decide to check after that i saw 3 cable near that area is not placed corrrectly and maybe make the frame bumpy a bit, then i try to placed them on good position.. after that everything works fine, even rarely no display again, i just slow press on conector cable area(look at pict 2)

usually as said no ram detected... usually that says board is still functional .. closing the clips wont harm anything that I ever heard off ... remove the ram and reseat them, they will go in and click with a bit of force make sure they go in proper way as they only go one way , you can also try just 1 stick then the other stick on its own to see of it boots... you can try booting with the cd drive disconnected and side panel off it wont cause any issue for testing purposes..

I finally got it to work. It was a simple mistake. It turns out that the RAM stick was facing the wrong way. I didnt understand because all the videos I watched about uprgrading the RAM on the x51 had the sticker side facing away from the fan. I'm terribly sorry for freaking out when it was a simple solution.

My sister has an Alienware 17R5 (8750H 1070) and one of the fans on her laptop started making an annoying grinding noise. We opened it, cleaned the fan, and closed it up. Problem is, it now wont POST and it makes 3 beeps, followed by 2, then 1, and repeat.
From what I could find this means a disconnected/faulty LCD. We did disconnect the 40 pin cable so we could disconnect the motherboard, but it dosent seem damaged and we tried resitting it a few times with no success.
Does anyone have an idea would could be wrong? is there another cable I should check that may be the cause of this beep code?

So, one month has passed and I received the display cable from Aliexpress. I replaced the damn thing (Not fun, but doable) and to my surprise it worked! The laptop and the display turns on and boots into Windows. If anyone else has this problem, do try and replace the cable before replacing the motherboard\giving up, for me at least it saved the entire laptop.

If the beeping started after you took it apart then it means you fucked up somewhere. Hopefully it’s just a cable issue and not a damage / ESD issue. Take it back apart, repaste, and carefully reconnect every cable, every drive, and every memory module.

Sorry, forgot to add. Once you have completed the power drain, re-assemble the laptop and plug in the charger. If it starts charging wait for 15 minuted before booting up, you will get 5 beep, force shutdown and restart, it should fix itself after that. If it doesn't start charging then try to start it, go through the on/off procedure and then let it charge before using

I've seen this before. You should be able to fix it with a complete power drain. You will have to remove the main power, battery and coin cell battery then hold the power button down for at least 30 seconds. It's quite a job getting to the coin cell battery in the M14x, here a link to the service manual to help you. http://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_alienware_laptops/alienware-m14x-r2_owner%27s%20manual_en-us.pdf Page 69 I think your looking for. Make sure to follow the instructions carefully and electronically ground yourself so your don't damage any internal components.

thanks for your replay the model is :m14x the issue began , in some day I plug HDMI cable at the boot time . after while the beep come and some times is working fine but now it doesn't work at all.
