Hi George Graham: What is your Dell computer model, version and OS build number of your Windows 10 operating system [open a Run dialog box (Windows key + R) and enter winver - be sure to let us know if you have a Home or Pro edition of Win 10], CPU make and model, and BIOS version?  To find your current BIOS version open a Run dialog box, enter msinfo32 to open your System Information, and look for the field named 'BIOS Version / Date' in the summary. Have you recently run a check for updates using a utility like SupportAssist v4.x or Dell Update v5.x to ensure all available updates for your BIOS, firmware and hardware drivers are installed? Please clarify what you mean by 'windows 11 assistant' (e.g., do you mean the Windows 11 Installation Assistant at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11)? Do you know of any reason why Windows Update (Settings | Update & Security | Windows Update) is not offering to install the upgrade to Windows 11?  For example, if you have a Windows 10 Pro OS is it possible you configured the Target Release Version (TRV) in your Local Group Policy Editor to Windows 10 / 22H2 to block the upgrade to Windows 11? -----------Dell Inspiron 15 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.6456 * Firefox v144.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.25090.3009-1.1.25090.3001 * Malwarebytes Premium v5.4.2.217-143.0.5407 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7783 * My Dell v2.2.6.0 * Fusion Service 2.2.14.0

r/Dell on Reddit: (Help) Dell Optiplex 7050 WIndows 11 BIOS update
May 19, 2026 -

Greetings

I have recently purchased a used (refurbished) Dell Optiplex 7050 with Windows 11 Pro on it. It is running BIOS 1.3.11. Via the dell support website the latest version is 1.27.0. I Downloaded it, but the notes say install BIOS 1.7.6 before you install the latest version. However the Dell support web site doesn't list this update. (1.7.6). Has anybody else experienced this? Any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

r/Intune on Reddit: Dell BIOS updates through Windows Update
April 28, 2022 -

Hello,

In the past, we've noticed Dell BIOS updates installing (edit: via Windows Update) on some machines if they don't have a BIOS password set (for testing, not standard practice!)

Yesterday, my own work computer with a password protected BIOS received a BIOS update that dell published in January.

Honestly I am totally cool with this. I'd love to be able to say that AAD joined/Intune enrolled machines will get newish BIOS updates via Windows Update automatically. Has something changed? I can't find anything about it, other than some old articles talking about better driver support coming eventually... maybe...

r/Dell on Reddit: Do you let Windows Update automatically install BIOS update?
November 17, 2025 -

Suppose a user gets a brand new laptop, connects to internet, and then Windows Update automatically downloads BIOS update without letting control to the user, then the factory state is overwritten. Is there a way to let Windows know that the user don't want BIOS update at all, unless manually prompted?

Noticed BIOS update in HP laptop, bugged out the chipset firmware (clocksource TSC) where it drastically reduced performance by around 20% by defaulting to HPET. Such performance impact isn't easily noticed by most users which is atrocious on part of quality side of BIOS updates there. Yes, this is in fact, noticed. All that is done automatically by Windows Updates

Unsure of the Dell's quality of updates.

Any views on this?

r/Dell on Reddit: Firmware Update from Windows Update?
July 3, 2024 -

Hello Everyone. Hope you're well. I have a Dell G15 5515 (Ryzen Edition) Laptop.

Windows Update shows up this firmware update 1.19.0. I currently have 1.16.0 BIOS installed. I always updated my BIOS from Dell Update and manually with the executable.

Weeks ago I don't know what happened but dell update app showed an update but suddenly disappeared after some days before this.

On dell support webpage the version 1.16.0 is the lastest available the 1.19.0 doesn't appear.

I've never had problems with BIOS updates and I don't really know if it's good idea to update to that version from Windows Update.

Shall I update it from Windows Update? Or anyone has this version.

I'm about to reinstall Windows to have a clean install because I have a lot of stuff I don't really need.

Someone knows if it will update the firmware automatically? Thankfuly it didn't.

I will be waiting for your answers, I appreciate it very much.

Edit:

Just used my computer today, and Windows downloaded and forced me to install the firmware update (turn off and update, and restart and update) It successfully updated. And now my laptop is on BIOS version 1.19.0. just installed and didn't noticed something bad. edit this comment if I found something weird. attach the link to the video of the entire process that recorded.
