this has been a shit show since 4.6 came out. they used the same msi code for 4.6 that 4.5 had when all previous versions had a unique msi code. it almost feels like the person who was working on dc u prior to 4.6 is no longer at dell and the new guy working on the project has no idea what he's doing. dcu wua has always been awful with it's modern application, it just won't show up in the start menu if it's installed during osd. 5.7 has only just been released, so noone can really say. But they'll both deliver the same drivers and updates, so nothing will really change. The security issues are more to do with vulnerabilities with the app itself, and that should be worth updating for. More on reddit.com

I am struggling withe the exact same issue. The importSettings parameter fails with exit code 2. Even after I added a 30 second wait, it still fails the import of the xml. This started failing with version 4.6.0... But if I run the exact same script locally, not via Software Center, the import completes just fine. Any suggestions? More on reddit.com

Earlier this week my test device updated DCU to 4.7 UWP from DCU 4.6 Classic (apparently Classic is being retired and clients moved to the UWP version). Today I have come to download the installer and I find that the download has been removed from Dell. I am currently on about 50/50 endpoints self-upgraded. Does anyone know what has happened?

Not sure if this is why but at least on some of my clients it seems to update/install and shows installed in add/remove programs. The CLI also exists in program files. But the UWP GUI seems to not install/not found in start menu search... It could also be something wrong with the way I'm installing it :)

Hello there,
The Return code of 2 generally means that a file was not found. As the Dell command update has passed through may be this might a different error message meaning in your scenario. Can you see any other Event ID being generated to narrow down the issue?
Check the bdd.log file and see what it says. Per my personal experience, unexpected code 2 usually means file not found, incorrect file path, or permissions.

I was getting the same error code on my installation, but finding that the application was installed. After searching I found that Error Code 2 for Dell Command Update indicates that a reboot is required.

Officially—according to my service tag—Dell recommends DCU version 5.4.0, A00

They don’t recommend 5.4. for your device - they did just not update the site of your device for this specific tool.
