DCU is one of the few pieces of Dell bloat that I configure on my images. We use Monitor to configure bios passwords and SupportAssist for Business PCs to monitor status in Dell Tech Direct. Also struggeling with the problem here. It doesn't find the Driver with Windows Updates and we are not able to use our rmm tool to rollout the Driver because Dell as always doesn't provide any documentation on how to install the Software in quiet mode. Tried all switches possible but with no positive result. More on reddit.com

Looking at the footprint of the installation both install the update service to: \Program Files x86\Dell\UpdateService bur the classic version installs CommandUpdate to: \Program Files x86\Dell\CommandUpdate Whilst the UWP version installs CommandUpdate to: \Program Files\Dell\CommandUpdate This led me to believe the classic version may be 32 bit and the UWP version 64 bit, however after checking task manager it appears that both are 64bit. This breaks the standard of installing 32 bit application into \Program Files x86 and 64 bit applications into \Program Files. Investigating further and extracting the msi file from the installation wrapper, it appears that both version 4.5.0 and 4.6.0 use the same product code which prevents a native msi upgrade taking place. It would appear that if the wrapper detects an earlier version it instructs the installer to carry out a reinstall rather than an upgrade by using the command: msiexec /i REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=vomus which forces the installer to use the new msi file rather than the cached copy." The problem is that you are using the wrong Program Files folder. The new Dell CCU is 64 bit here is what we use: cmd.exe /c start /wait C:\"Program Files"\Dell\CommandUpdate\dcu-cli.exe /ApplyUpdates -reboot=disable -outputLog=C:\Temp\DellUpdatesDuringImaging.log Change the path for your switches and it should work More on reddit.com

We recently did a slow release by installing Dell Command Update in new images (so not directly from Intune) and configuring it to update itself via the Intune ADMX. So right now, only about 5% of devices have Dell Command Update. We have it configured to update once per month.
How has it worked for you? Do you have any horror stories? Do you have any config recommendations?

I've checked several Dell Pro 14 Plus laptops using Dell Command Update -> System Information. It doesn’t list a firmware version, only a driver version for ControlVault3. It shows the old version 6.2.25.24 . After manually installing the update package from the Dell website, it shows 6.2.26.36.
We've configured DCU via Intune policy to upgrade firmware, drivers and and install critical updates within 3 days. Updates (BIOS, drivers, etc.) are being applied as expected, but this specific one seems to be skipped.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is there another way to check the actual firmware version of ControlVault?
Any help is appreciated!

Dell have published a new document on how to determine if the vulnerability is patched: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000353975/how-to-determine-my-system-has-the-right-firmware-driver-for-controlvault In Device Manager: “Ensure your Firmware version is 5.15.7.0 for ControlVault3 or 6.2.24.0 for ControlVault3+” The version in the Host Components Installer is different to the Firmware version.
