This technically isn't a SCCM issue, but I figure the SCCM subreddit will have more knowledge and experience than other subreddits.
I'm working on setting up Dell Command Update for the first time to download drivers and update the BIOS as part of my OSD task sequence. I followed this guide to setup DCU and the modifications to the TS: https://alteredadmin.github.io/posts/how-to-update-dell-drivers-and-bios-during-sccm-osd/
Everything seems to work well, but looking at the BIOS version and the log produced by DCU, it doesn't appear to be grabbing the latest version of BIOS available. For example, a Latitude 5430's latest BIOS version is 1.19.0, and is marked as critical. However, DCU pulled and installed 1.17.1. I could see it not pulling a recommended version, since it's not "critical," but it skipped a critical and a recommended to choose an older critical version.
Running DCU in the freshly-imaged OS also doesn't report that there's a newer version to install. It's better than nothing, but this is confusing me why it's not pulling the latest BIOS version.

So, my command is: cmd /c dcu-cli.exe /applyupdates -updatetype=bios,firmware -reboot=disable -forceUpdate=enable -outputlog=c:\temp\DCULog-EXE-BIOS.log And yeah, my 5430s are pulling that too. I don't think it's an issue of what you're doing, but I think it's too new: The 1.19.0 just came out. Either by design or... 'bad design', DCU lags behind 'when the full release hits'. So I would say it's... 'normal'.

I think you didn't get the latest as it was only released yesterday from what I saw on Dell site. As someone said above it can take several days before you actually get it when scanning had this happen already as well. Also some model with very old bios sometimes need to do a two step bios upgrade to get the latest version (not the case for your model with this number as it installed 1.17)

Just a quick note: Latitude 5300 is having exactly the same problem with new BIOS-version 1.33.1. Updating from Dell Command Update fails because the exe-file is not signed. DELL: please remove the 'Community accepted solution' from this thread.

Experiencing the exact same problem. I have to add that a first run of dell command update found 4 updates; 3 drivers and the latest BIOS. It successfully installed the driver updates, but it shows a failure of the installation of the BIOS update. After that installation failure Dell Command Update does not find the latest BIOS update anymore, although the website does. It is almost like Dell Command Update thinks the latest BIOS has been installed, although it is not. Tried clearing Dell temp dirs to no avail. Also found older threads experiencing the same issue 2 years ago, with no viable solution.

Just want to add that we already deleted c:\programdata\dell folder and rerun Dell Command Update with no success, still no Bios update.

So Dell Commad Update tells me there is an available Bios update. Fine, I want to update the Bios.
It warns me that the power adapter and other equipment (like my Docking station) must be unplugged to uptade the BIOS. However, when I unplug I get another warning telling me that the update cannot be installed without the Power adapter plugged in. So I plug it in, ignore the first warning and click update... Then after a while, it tells me the update failed.
Anyone know of a solution to this problem?
