Anyone done this yet? I have it installing as an MSI but it does not install the GUI portion of the program, just the command line. That part has been working good. I'm trying this option:
msiexec /i "DellCommandUpdateApp4_3.msi" /qb /norestart
But I think the switches are just for the actual install itself and not the final product correct? Is there a way to do this?

Wish I knew myself. All i can get for it to install during a task sequence is the command line. The GUI seems to be a Windows modern app and I can't find out how to launch it otherwise.

We recently did a slow release by installing Dell Command Update in new images (so not directly from Intune) and configuring it to update itself via the Intune ADMX. So right now, only about 5% of devices have Dell Command Update. We have it configured to update once per month.

DCU is one of the few pieces of Dell bloat that I configure on my images. We use Monitor to configure bios passwords and SupportAssist for Business PCs to monitor status in Dell Tech Direct. DCU has always been solid for me to use command prompt remotely in the backend to install firmware.

I have been messing around with the new version of DCU on our TS and cannot seem to get it installed.
I created an application with the following install code:
Dell-Command-Update-Windows-Universal-Application_P4DJW_WIN64_5.5.0_A00.EXE /s
I am reading this new version of DCU now needs .NET 8.0.12 or higher Created .NET as a dependency
I have been using the below command to apply all of the Dell command updates during the TS:
cmd /c "C:\Program Files\Dell\CommandUpdate\dcu-cli.exe" /applyUpdates -outputLog=c:\Admin\DellUpdatelogs\dcu.log
This similar setup was working with 5.4 for year or so now.

You need net8 installed first

Everyone will tell you just install net8 first, but majority of us know you probably already did. This is the fix that I found and is working for me. The issue is it's corrupting the security rights for the C:\ProgramData\Dell folder. You have to attempt the install, take ownership of the dell folder, reset rights, delete folder, install, profit. I got this to work. I used a few tools to get this working. 1) I extracted the installer to a folder on my desktop. 2) I executed the installer and used process explorer to figure out where the msi file was getting extracted to. 3) I used ORCA to edit the MSI file and remove the Custom Action called CheckDellSystem. Once removed, I could install Dell Command Update on my reference image.

I typically don't install DCU within the OS before imaging. I place the installation file in a hidden folder in the root of C drive, then when I'm capturing the image in Hyper-V with Image Assist, I configure DCU to be installed with an 'Additional Synchronous Command' using the following line: cmd /c 'C:\DeploySetup\Dell-Command-Update.EXE' /s You might try this alternative.
