Anyone done this yet? I have it installing as an MSI but it does not install the GUI portion of the program, just the command line. That part has been working good. I'm trying this option:

msiexec /i "DellCommandUpdateApp4_3.msi" /qb /norestart

But I think the switches are just for the actual install itself and not the final product correct? Is there a way to do this?

Wish I knew myself. All i can get for it to install during a task sequence is the command line. The GUI seems to be a Windows modern app and I can't find out how to launch it otherwise.

We recently did a slow release by installing Dell Command Update in new images (so not directly from Intune) and configuring it to update itself via the Intune ADMX. So right now, only about 5% of devices have Dell Command Update. We have it configured to update once per month.

Is anyone having issue with DCUv5.0 Legacy in your Task Sequence?

I was able to install DCUv5.0 locally. Once we uninstalled DCUv5.0 to test using Software center, which we didn't get that fair yet.

We noticed when trying to install locally on the same machine.

Take the dcu exe and uncompress it. You will find msi installer in the contents!

Got this issue and I used the "Extract" rather than "Install" option on the installation screen. Select the folder to "Extract" to and when the extract is finished run the DCU_Setup_ application file from the folder you extracted the files to.

I got this to work. I used a few tools to get this working. 1) I extracted the installer to a folder on my desktop. 2) I executed the installer and used process explorer to figure out where the msi file was getting extracted to. 3) I used ORCA to edit the MSI file and remove the Custom Action called CheckDellSystem. Once removed, I could install Dell Command Update on my reference image.

I typically don't install DCU within the OS before imaging. I place the installation file in a hidden folder in the root of C drive, then when I'm capturing the image in Hyper-V with Image Assist, I configure DCU to be installed with an 'Additional Synchronous Command' using the following line: cmd /c 'C:\DeploySetup\Dell-Command-Update.EXE' /s You might try this alternative.
