Yeah, true.. something is broken. This version cant even be installed on an new installed Windows 11 Enterprise. In the manual it says be sure to use .NET 4.8 but in the download page it says .NET 8.x or newer, I've been downloaded the .Net 9 still doesnt work.. I am using the Silent switches/command when installing because its enterprise enviroment.. with both /passthrough /i /s /v"/qn" and/or with /s. but we still got errors in our logfiles. Get DEP_HARD_ERROR in log wich means dependency of some sort.. weird.. (Its not the first time Dell has broken DCU) We have to go back to version 5.4. More on reddit.com

Also struggeling with the problem here. It doesn't find the Driver with Windows Updates and we are not able to use our rmm tool to rollout the Driver because Dell as always doesn't provide any documentation on how to install the Software in quiet mode. Tried all switches possible but with no positive result. More on reddit.com

Given the recent exploits for Dell Command I'd like to uninstall it from our computers if I can.

However my concern is that I think Dell Command updates firmware and drivers that Windows update may not? Am I incorrect in that? Can't find much info online, but if someone knows off the top of their head it would be appreciated.

Dell Command Update can update itself automatically (e.g. by using dcu-cli.exe), I'd definitely keep it.

Just keep DCU itself up-to-date and the vulnerability will go away. It's just like any other software install, sometimes you get a vuln and so you update it. DCU in turn is used to eliminate even more vulnerabilities. Similarly, sometimes the WindowsUpdate service has a vulnerability, when that happens you don't remove the service, you simply run the latest Serving Stack update and get it compliant. The big deal with DCU is that it has a command line interface so you can send it commands with whatever MDM tool you have and make your clients install all needed Dell firmware and updates. We use it all the time. Especially right before we do a win10 Feature Update. Fantastic product that occaisionally gets a vulnerability found.
