Post back and tell us the exact error message you see if the installer will not run to completion. If running the installer with Administrator rights doesn't work then open your Windows registry editor (open a Run dialog box and enter regedit) and browse to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Store and confirm that you have a registry entry for StoreContentModifier that shows that you have a Dell Precision laptop.

January 13, 2022 - Knowing that an uninstall/reinstall fixes it, I set out to reverse engineer this the best I could & came up with the following workaround. When I delete the "C:\ProgramData\Dell\UpdateService" folder in its entirety, the service is able to start & re-populate with fresh files. I went further with this trying to delete temp files, review the UpdateScheduler.dat file contents, etc, but never could get to a more granular fix other that nuking the entire folder & letting it repopulate. Hope this helps you at least not have to uninstall/reinstall.

Hi! Today I have encountered this issue while I was preparing a Dell Precision workstation at work. Finally, making some searches and tests on the computer I have found out that Dell Command Update 5.5 requires '.Net Desktop Runtime 8' to be installed previously on the system. You can download the installer from the following URL: Download .NET 8.0 (Linux, macOS, and Windows) (Maybe installing just '.NET Runtime 8' instead of '.Net Desktop Runtime 8' is enough, I haven´t tested it yet.) Something has definitely changed with the installation of Dell Update Command. I've tried to install version 5.5 on 3 new freshly installed Windows 11 computers, and each time I get the 'The wizard was interupted before Dell Command|Update could be completely installed' error. I have to perform the updates thru the Dell support website now.

Hello guys,
We use primarily Patch my PC for software updates.
Recently Dell Command | Update 5.5 came out and we have trouble with new installations.
So on any new device we set up with autopilot Dell Command | update fails to install but if you have version 5.4.1 and upgrade it to 5.5 there is no problem.
The error code in intune is "0x80070004". I know that you have to change the return codes to "2 Success" if you try to install it during autopilot.
It's something about a Dell service. I'm just curious if anyone else having that problem as well?

Yeah, true.. something is broken. This version cant even be installed on an new installed Windows 11 Enterprise. In the manual it says be sure to use .NET 4.8 but in the download page it says .NET 8.x or newer, I've been downloaded the .Net 9 still doesnt work.. I am using the Silent switches/command when installing because its enterprise enviroment.. with both /passthrough /i /s /v"/qn" and/or with /s. but we still got errors in our logfiles. Get DEP_HARD_ERROR in log wich means dependency of some sort.. weird.. (Its not the first time Dell has broken DCU) We have to go back to version 5.4.

This resolved my issue with 5.4 for me. -install .NET Desktop Running 8.0.14 as dependency. Make sure to install the .NET Desktop Runtime, not .NET Runtime.
