I just moved to a new place and just tried hooking up my pc for the first time in about a month and whenever I plug it in it gives me a quick beep every couple seconds. I tried looking up beeping codes but there’s no 1-1-1 beep code. Also my pc is showing a solid amber light on the inside and nothing is showing up on my monitor. I tried pressing the power button as well to see if it did anything but no luck. How do I fix this?

If your not getting a normal type beep code, the first thing I'd recommend is pulling the power plug and then taking off the side panel. Once the panel is off, remove the two sticks of RAM and then seat them back into the motherboard paying close attention to make sure you sit them right back down in the same way. I normally only pull them out about half an inch, and then just push them right back in. Just enough to be fully free of the socket, not so much that it's not easy to just push them right back on. Also, remove the CMOS battery (little coin battery) and reseat it as well. I found a video showing the process: https://youtu.be/d9Uo9WsCqbA

Hello, · The important point here is, · How many beeps do you get. · The number of beeps is an indicator as to what the problem actually is. · Do a search then for " x number of beeps when starting computer" read up on the links from there to get to the bottom of the issue.

Reset: power off, unplug. Disconnect the battery. Hold the power button for 30 sec. Then reconnect the battery and try again. If you get the same single-beep repeating code, it's a bad system board. The mainboard will need replacement. If you need a part reference, post the full model number (Inspiron 3521, 3558, etc.) and the CPU you have and someone can recommend a replacement part and source.

Thanks, I managed to fix it. I left it off for a bit and then plugged the charger back in and powered it on (there were no beeps and it loaded up). Everything is working fine now. If the problem happens again I’ll post again.

I had the same problem, and was able to fix it with the following steps: Unplug everything unscrew and remove side panel pop-out each memory card, blow on them and pop them back in (be sure the tabs lock back down) Somehow one of the memory cards must have jiggled lose, even though they looked fine at first. My system started right up immediately afterwards. All the best, David

eakire The Inspiron series does not have the four diagnostics lights. Are there any error messages, if there are, please post the exact text of them. What is the reading of the power button LED, Steady Blue, Blinking Blue, Steady Amber, Blinking Amber? You can check the 'Beep' codes in the following link. This paper discusses troubleshooting steps for notebooks that are not turning on. Typically it could be one of three issues, No power (no power to the notebook), No post (the system has power but is not fully turning on), or No boot (the system has power, it is turning on, but it is not booting to the Operating system). From your post it is obvious that the notebook has power, but it isn't fully turning on. I would have to say that this is a No post problem. This paper will go over further troubleshooting steps to help determine the problem. If the notebook is not starting up or showing a blank screen: Remove any peripheral devices that are attached to the computer. Peripherals include: Printers Scanners Media Card Readers Mobile devices such as smart phones or tablets or portable digital assistants or MP3 players Digital cameras or video recorders USB storage devices Remove the computer from a docking station if it is in one Remove any CDs or DVDs in the optical drive Remove the AC adapter from the computer and remove the AC power cord from the wall outlet. Remove the computer's battery. For instructions on how to do this, consult the Online Owner's Manual. Press and hold the computer power button for 15 seconds. Insert the AC adapter plug and make sure it is seated properly. Plug in the AC power cord to a known good working outlet. Press the power button to see if the computer turns on. If the computer starts, turn it off and put the battery back in. Press the power button to see if the computer turns on. June 23, 2022 - I do not think that is any kind of system error beep. If I guess it is the power supply unit dying on you. try a different working 24/4 pin ATX psu. I have a hunch that the noise would disappear, although still do not know whether your motherboard would POST. on your video there is also another intermittent low knocking sound, almost like a mechanical drive trying to spin but fails, like a bad floppy drive.

I have an old Dell Inspiron was going to give to my son. When I plug in (bought a new charger, second I have tried) it beeps. I read something about number of beeps. There are 5. The CMOS battery is required to hold the current BIOS settings, and the real-time clock. If there is no charge, then the BIOS settings will be lost and will default to the original values. Did you ever find out how to fix this issue? I have the same small inspiron laptop, and yeah, I agree, not worth much, but I would like to fix it. And of it's a matter of just replacing a coin batter then I'll do it. Like you, I purchased a new powersupply because I had no idea when the original one went to.
