Disable "UEFI Capsule Update" om the BIOS and it should theoretically avoid Windows Update pushing you BIOS updates/uefi/firmware stuff. Edit: also adding that UEFI UpdateCapsule (this mechanism of forcing hardware-level firmware on you, which many-a-times is NOT DOWNGRADEABLE due to Intel preventing it through fuse-blowing shenanigans such as those on the Nintendo Switch) is a great form of... Planned Obsolence ...meaning it's a nice way Windows and OEMs have to make your computer eventually useless some years from now by pushing stuff that breaks performance, removes features or even disables the system entirely. June 19, 2020Stuck on Firmware Update for 2 hours . Help!!
Good news: even if it farks up, Dell will automatically default to the previous known-working BIOS. Their firmware update utility is spotty as hell and always has been, so just go to the product support update page for your model and download all known current updates one at a time as individual installation files; you're always better off doing the BIOS update separately by itself in-between reboots anyway, and you can manually suspend BitLocker, which I recommend doing from PowerShell and immediately before running the standalone installer. You can even set it up to leave BitLocker off until you manually turn it back on from CLI again when done, solves a world of problems. Give it another hour and if it still doesn't snap out of it just do the hard power cycle and hope for the best; Dells rarely brick over a borked BIOS install anymore. More on reddit.com

Hello Everyone. Hope you're well. I have a Dell G15 5515 (Ryzen Edition) Laptop.
Windows Update shows up this firmware update 1.19.0. I currently have 1.16.0 BIOS installed. I always updated my BIOS from Dell Update and manually with the executable.
Weeks ago I don't know what happened but dell update app showed an update but suddenly disappeared after some days before this.
On dell support webpage the version 1.16.0 is the lastest available the 1.19.0 doesn't appear.
I've never had problems with BIOS updates and I don't really know if it's good idea to update to that version from Windows Update.
Shall I update it from Windows Update? Or anyone has this version.
I'm about to reinstall Windows to have a clean install because I have a lot of stuff I don't really need.
Someone knows if it will update the firmware automatically? Thankfuly it didn't.
I will be waiting for your answers, I appreciate it very much.

Just used my computer today, and Windows downloaded and forced me to install the firmware update (turn off and update, and restart and update) It successfully updated. And now my laptop is on BIOS version 1.19.0. just installed and didn't noticed something bad. edit this comment if I found something weird. attach the link to the video of the entire process that recorded.

The Dell firmware (BIOS) updates seem to be new in Windows 11 Windows Update. I don't recall seeing that in Windows 10 and below. I don't know why it only mentions "firmware" and not explicitly "BIOS" but it's def the BIOS. And the firmware update history is listed under "Driver Updates."
