Preface that I'm not experienced with computers
Just bought the Dell Inspiron 14 2 in 1 (model no 7445) for 430 GBP (around $550).
Specs are ryzen 5 8640HS, 8GB ram, 512 GB storage.
Did I get a good deal? From what I've seen most laptops with a touch screen around these specs are more expensive.
My Dell arrived in the mail yesterday and has run hot from the moment I turned it on. When I went into Best Buy to check out what they had I was warned they got warm but I wasn't expecting anything this bad. I only used it for about 3 hours, was working on Word, and had multiple tabs open. I also did not sit with it on my lap like I usually would I was at my desk and it still overheated.
I bought the Dell to replace my Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 which does get a bit warm but typically only if I sit with it on a blanket, which I know is my own fault. I'm overall just not impressed with the Dell, its a step up from the laptop that got me through school but honestly just feels like a bit of a waste of money - the Lenovo did what I needed without burning up and I've had it four years now. It's not a pretty laptop but it got the job done.
Another laptop I thought was nice, but a bit up there in price range was the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2 in 1. I'm going to be honest I know nothing about computers I liked it based purely on looks.
I spend a lot of time writing, and I'd like to try playing a few games, nothing crazy maybe Stardew Valley or Omori. I don't care if it's a 2 in 1 that's just what they had on display. I also don't care how bright it gets, I get bothered when screens are too bright anyway. I do want a lit keyboard though, and something that won't overheat. I'd prefer something around 14 inches.
In a perfect world I'd just get an Ipad to carry around with me and buy a PC but I don't see a good PC in my range plus the Ipad being affordable right now.
Would the Lenovo 9i be a good switch? I'm open to other suggestions as well. I don't plan to keep the Dell and I need something for graduate school.
Hi, I'm Ana M. I would love to help you today.
I recommend that you repair Windows completely, before copying your personal files.

Hi,
You may be able to download Windows 10 installation media directly from Dell, along with the Dell Apps and Programs that came with it.. If not, you may at least be able to download the Dell supplied programs and extras..
You can download the newest current Windows 10 installation media here...
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Simply run the tool with a flash drive of 16GB or larger plugged in, or save the media as a ISO and burn it to DVD or flash drive.. I prefer saving it as a ISO, but it takes a bit more work to put it on a Flash Drive.. Burning it to a DVD is pretty simple, but it needs to be a Dual-Layer DVD..
You do not need a password unless you have set up your Bios to require one.. Windows 10 does not require one for installation..
When you are asked for a license key, select "I do not have one".. The machine should automatically activate once the installation is complete..
I don't think there is any specific order in which to install drivers.. It may be best to do the Graphics first so everything else works more smoothly.. Windows 10 is really good at installing most all drivers that are required for the installation.. Windows Update may update some of them later.. You can also update them manually with the current Windows 10 drivers from Dell for your machine..
I'm pretty sure the Support Assist is a Dell program and you will need to do without it until your installation is complete and you are able to download it from Dell.. If you have access to a 2nd machine, you could download the Dell stuff with that, but it is not really necessary..
