Hi everyone, If your Dell laptop won’t power on and you notice the white LED lights up for a second and then turns off, here’s what it means and what you can try. What Does This Indicate? This usually points to a power-related issue, it could be the adapter, battery, DC jack, or in some cases, the motherboard. Troubleshooting Steps Try these steps in order: Perform a Hard Reset Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery (if removable). Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain residual power. Reconnect the battery and adapter, then try powering on. Check the Power Adapter Ensure the adapter light is on and stable. If possible, test with another Dell-compatible adapter. Inspect the Charging Port Make sure it’s clean and free of debris. A damaged DC jack can prevent proper charging. Run Built-in Diagnostics If the system powers on briefly, tap F12 at startup and select Diagnostics. If you only get a white screen when holding D during power-on, that’s the LCD test, which means the display works. Reset BIOS (if accessible) Enter BIOS (F2 or F12 at startup) and load default settings. If you can’t access BIOS, skip this step. Check RAM Reseat or test RAM modules one at a time. Refer to this video for a visual walkthrough:  No Power Troubleshooting Next Steps – If none of the above worked: If your product is under warranty:Click the Get Help Now button at the bottom-right corner of this page to chat with Dell Tech Support for immediate assistance. If out of warranty:The issue may be with the motherboard or charging circuit, which requires professional repair. Answer from DELL-Nat M on dell.com

The reset procedure actually is to disconnect the battery and the adapter. Then press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Then reconnect everything and try to reboot. Run a diagnostic procedure by tapping F12 immediately at boot. If it runs properly watch for any errors. That flashing amber light means a low battery charge. It is possible that the battery needs to be replaced or that the adapter is not charging the battery properly. If the adapter light stays on then a short is not likely. If possible try another Dell adapter. It is also possible that the DC jack is having problems and needs to be replaced. Least likely cause, the MB charging circuit is not working.

Hello @SK2658 , which Inspiron model do you have?  The information would help with better accuracy in troubleshooting.  For starter, unplug the AC charger and remove the battery.  Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.  Reinstall battery and reapply power to see if it makes any different.  Any relevant information or event preceding to the failed boot?  Also, my apology for additional comment toward another user.  @sahil7439 , this is user to user community platform.  You are welcome to post answer, solution to assist other fellow users.  I try not to judge but your post is hijacking the thread of another person as it does not offer any meaningful information or relevant to the topic query.  It reflects a person of ill-mannered, disrespectful to others. From the information in your post, I see that you are not satisfying with the product (laptop) and the repair services from Dell support.  You should contact Dell directly instead of hijacking someone else thread and spamming the forums.   While you may not see it, the provided information has shed some pictures about your personality.  By mentioning about your study and yet, you behaved like an uneducated person.  Your loss of data is an example of an irresponsible person, have you ever heard of the term backup.   If you don't succeed in life, it's solely your own responsibility.  What next?  Are you going to blame on a bus driver whom was running late and causing you to miss your final?  The fact that you have had time and access to create an account to post your complaint in someone else thread showing that the crisis you made out to be were just some excuses for a scheme to demand FREE laptop and FREE services from Dell.
