I normally stayed away from laptops with Pentium processors unless it was a senior who only wants one to check email and light web browsing. The lowest I'd start with, say a student, would be an i3. Any i5 with 8GB RAM is going to be able to handle pretty much whatever it is someone needs to do besides heavy use (CAD, video production etc). Hell, my laptop with an i5/8GB combo can play games, and using it every day all day with summer classes it never skips a beat. Another reason I don't sell Pentium computers is because I've witnessed the majority of them coming back because the customer either said it was slow and/or takes a while to boot, which both of those problems go hand in hand. Sure, in some cases I bet a Pentium would be just fine and contradict my points, but it's a risk I don't like taking to keep our numbers up. So for that, i3 is what I settle with because I know it's at least good enough. Not super fast, but at least people won't bitch enough that they return a sale with ST etc. There's a Dell we have with an i5, 8GB and a SSD. You probably know what I'm talking about. That is my favorite. Next would be the HP display with an i7 that retails right around some of the laptops with lower specs, another one I like to push. Very nice review, though. To add more, I cannot stand it when people want to cheap the fuck out. Budget and their usage are always the first things I discuss with a customer, and I make it known that the cheapo Lenovo is going to be a pain in the ass for them (not exact wording lol) and depending on what they tell me they will use it for, I'll either move them to another Pentium or show them that they need to heavily consider spending more for something that will work better for them. You just know when looking at someone walk in, hear them say "I want to look at laptops" your brain is screaming "you are a cheap fucker go away" but you still have to make a sale... Latitude is fine. Precision. Built for corporations who expect stuff to generally work and be reliable. The consumer stuff, small business (Inspiron, Vostro, XPS) seems to be a bit spotty. More on reddit.com
