Your very welcome @Rishabh aggarwal  This is a problem that I have researched before. Not only for your model but others. It seems to be a 'Glitch' in the BIOS circuitry. Removing and or replacing the BIOS battery will work. But on many occasions the same problem returns. I hope yours stays stable and does not return. Best regards and good luck, U2 Answer from U2CAMEB4ME on dell.com

In case it helps anyone else, I experienced similar symptoms on a Dell Latitude 5440 laptop, and here's what got things to work for me... (First, my precise symptoms were this... every time I tried to turn the machine on, the keyboard backlight (and caps lock indicator) would illuminate, but the laptop's screen wouldn't show anything -- not even the Dell logo.  The laptop just seemed to freeze in this state, even if I let it sit for five or ten minutes) So what, for me, got things working again?: I held the power button down for a good 45 seconds, then booted it one last time.  It then booted as it should.  For good measure, I then used Dell Command-Update to perform all available updates and ran through all BIOS diagnostics to ensure no issues were detected.

Hey All,  The original thread had symptoms of No POST failure with no apparent flash code. It wouldn't be a true No Power scenario as we are receiving some signs of life with the keyboard coming on, even if brief. Please refer to the following troubleshooting if you are running into similar issues with a Dell system. Please be sure to view your system manual on our support site for guidance on accessing the internals of a system. Perform a hard reset: Disconnect any external devices including the AC adapter and disconnect the battery cable if able. Hold the power button down for 10 seconds (20 seconds for Alienware) Bypass any power strips, surge protectors or battery backups Verify the wall outlet is functional Reseat the battery cable if disconnected Plug only the AC adapter back into the laptop Attempt to power on the system If unresolved, please attempt a BIOS recovery: Verify that the laptop is powered OFF and disconnect the AC adapter. Press and hold the CTRL key + ESC key on the keyboard. Plug in the AC adapter to the laptop. Release the CTRL key + ESC key on the keyboard once you see the BIOS recovery screen. If the BIOS Recovery screen appears, select Reset NVRAM (if available) and press the Enter key. Select Disabled and press the Enter key to save the current BIOS settings. Select Recover BIOS and press the Enter key to start the recovery process The unit should then boot if successful If still unresolved, please attempt our Real Time Clock Reset: Turn the system off. Leave the power cable plugged into the system. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. RTC reset occurs after you release the power button. Note: Holding the power button for longer than 40 seconds will abort the RTC reset. The unit should restart a few times and power on to a time of day not set page if resolved. Should there still be no change, then at this point you will want to remove the RAM, SSD, and WLAN card if accessible for your system.  Once these parts are removed, connect the AC adapter and attempt to power on the system Locate the power LED indicator on your system. The unit should get a 2 amber, 3 white flash code error for no memory at the power LED If the 2,3 code is present, reinstall the components one at a time to see if the particular part or slot is causing a short. If a part is identified to be an issue, then look into replacing it or testing with a known good one if available If the 2,3 code is not present, then you would need to start looking into a motherboard replacement.  Refer to the following links for additional guidance: Computer Won't POST No Post Troubleshooting If assistance is needed with these steps, then contact Dell GHN (Get Help Now) chat technical support Monday through Friday. Dell Latitude 7390. LED, keyboard, power button light up . But shut off immediately. No POST LED’s
I know that this is not useful right now but perhaps for someone else having this problem. I had exactly the same problem on my daughters xps 13 7390. Turns out it was the power cable. Since I also have a xps 13 I thought why not test with my cable and without any hopes I plugged it it and it to my surprise it booted as normal. More on reddit.com

Here are some steps you can try to make sure your laptop wakes up properly after Sleep mode: Update Drivers and BIOS: Outdated drivers or BIOS firmware can sometimes cause sleep mode issues. Ensure that you have the latest drivers and BIOS updates installed for your Dell laptops. You can usually find these updates on Dell's support website. Adjust Power Settings: Sometimes, power settings can cause problems with sleep mode. Try adjusting the power settings in the Control Panel to see if it makes a difference as per the video below: Disable Fast Startup: Fast Startup is a feature in Windows that can cause issues with sleep mode on some systems. Try disabling Fast Startup to see if it resolves the problem. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do, then uncheck the box next to 'Turn on fast startup (recommended)'. Check for Background Processes: Sometimes, background processes or applications can interfere with sleep mode. Make sure that no unnecessary programs are running in the background before putting the laptop to sleep. Reset Power Management Settings: You can try resetting the power management settings to their default values to see if that helps. You can do this by opening an elevated Command Prompt and running the following commands: powercfg -restoredefaultschemes Contact Dell Support: If you still need assistance, please contact support by clicking the ‘Get Help Now’ button located at the bottom right corner of the page. The button is marked with a help icon for easy recognition as per the picture below:

March 2, 2025 - If opening causes keyboard to turn on, then that is on the Software Plausibly. If the fans spin the your screen is not powering up, probably a iGPU problem. Probably it got damaged due to a shake? Maybe in a pc bag hitting the ground? Or an internal disk drive that is corrupted? It can be many factors. Tried taking out the CMOS Battery and listening in for the beeps/ lights? If you cannot fix it then, try to call Dell again, they should not hang up randomly.

Hi @justincase69831 · Does it do this with the charger connected, you didn't say? · Try a full power refresh in case it is a corrupted BIOS and check if that resolves the problem. · Here’s the procedure: · a). December 27, 2020 - Typically only three things will cause that issue that early in the boot process. System board / CPU, RAM, and video adaptor. As you really can't do much about the system board / CPU or video adaptor on many laptops, this leaves you with RAM.

r/Dell on Reddit: Dell XPS 15 9570 keyboard lights up, but screen remains black/blank
August 10, 2022 -

Hi,

I have this weird scenario where the keyboard and caps lock light up on pressing the power button, but the screen remains blank (no Dell logo). After a few seconds, the keyboard light goes off too.

Some background

  1. This machine was effectively running by plugging into a power outlet as its charger had lost capacity.

  2. One fine day, it says battery not detected, and on the next start, the original problem (keyboard lighting up but not booting) occurs. I remove the battery; the laptop runs and functions as normal.

  3. The next day, the problem (lighting up but not booting) occurs again, despite the battery having been removed. I do a hard reset (holding power for 30 seconds) and it starts again.

  4. A day or so later, it takes a fair bit of time to boot. Task manager/startup shows 27 seconds as the boot time; used to be 6 seconds earlier. Once booted, it functions normally. However on the next restart, the keyboard shows issues (multiple strokes for a single button press, and sometimes no strokes/letters appear at all)

  5. A day or so later, it refuses to start at all (the original problem of keyboard lighting up for a few seconds when power is pressed, but screen is blank) Nothing I do (including the hard reset) helps.

Any ideas/suggestions/fixes?

r/Dell on Reddit: Backlit keyboard ALWAYS on and can't turn it off
February 28, 2024 -

Hey guys, I'm at wit's end... I have a Dell Inspiron 7590 but the keyboard backlight is always on and I can't seem to turn it off no matter what I do.

Tried everything from a clean install of Windows (currently running 11), Bios reset, flashing to the latest, downgrading etc, all kinds of key combinations suggested (other than simply pressing the F5 key, which on this model is clearly marked with the keyboard backlight icon), deleting the keyboard from the Device Manager (and letting Windows reinstall the driver).

I know the F5 key itself works because I can still execute functions that require the key, and I'm supposed to be able to see a BIOS setting for the "Keyboard Illumination" that controls the behavior of the key, but I'm not seeing it either. The only time it turns off is when I shut the computer down. As soon as the boot screen comes up, the keyboard is on. This is driving me nuts! PLEASE HELP!!!
