Apparently there's no officially supported car adapter for these rugged laptops with USB-C charging...how Dell sees this as acceptable is beyond me...🤷🏻♂️. This laptop wasn't my choice...employer took away our perfectly functioning Toughbooks and replaced them with these Dell ruggeds without a way to power them in the truck. Putting an inverter in the truck to use the AC adapter is considered an "unapproved modification" 🤦🏻♂️
Being using the older car & airplane adapter with the barrel plug with the WD19 docking station...that complains of "slow charging", for about 2 months, and the USB-C plug failed yesterday. Not surprising...that's a monster plug with a ton of leverage in a mobile environment.
I see the 87J1C car & airplane adapter with the USB-C plug, but doesn't list the 5430 as being compatible. Same thing in the comments from the company reps. Is it a situation of "doesn't work, period", will make the computer whine about slow charging, or Dell just hasn't updated their compatibility lists?
