We purposely remove that general Support Assist program from our Dell computers because it has always been problematic. Instead we utilize Dell Command Update for general driver and system updates.
However, recently we've noticed that Dell Command Update is installing something called Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Plugin. Here is what Dell says about it: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000177401/restore-your-system-using-dell-supportassist-os-recovery
I'm just curious if any of you have noticed this, if you let Command Update install it, if you have actually used it and find it valuable... or if you just deselect it or uninstall it?
Because of my bad network, I can't use the os recovery tool to download and install the recovery image in a short time, if the download is interrupted, I have to re-download. so where can i use the browser to download a recovery image so i can burn the iso to a usb drive?
I need to reset this laptop, its a Dell Pro 16 PC16250 and when i try using the Dell OS Recovery Tool it keeps saying it cant connect in the backend. I am hardwired and i know I have internet working because i am able to post and stream with no issues. I even tried disabling the UEFI and run the win11 ISO from microsoft but that isnt working either. anyone can help me please!
If you don't have Administrator access, then you should perform a custom install:

Hello,
How can i install and run the Dell OS Recovery Tool Windows 8.1 on my laptop by usb flash when my screen is locked by admin or other user.
Thank you
The official Windows image file should be exactly the same as the image provided by Dell. But after I used dism to mount the two images separately, I found that the Dell image had more drivers than the Microsoft image, about 1GB. Then I installed the two images on the same device and ran Windows Update. It turned out that Windows Update had installed most of the pre-installed drivers found on the Dell image on the Microsoft image, but there were still some pre-installed drivers that were not available through Windows Update. I haven't noticed any difference in how the two images run, which suggests some of the pre-installed drivers may be unnecessary.
I want to know when I need to reinstall Windows, should I choose Microsoft image or Dell image? To keep my device running at optimal performance, should I always use Dell images?
