Hello, I have one of these as a work laptop with exactly the same specifications, and personally I wouldn't recommend it - the problem is that although the CPU and GPU are high spec, the cooling and power delivery is completely inadequate meaning that you don't get anywhere near the performance you should be able to in my opinion. I've had endless issues with thermal and power limit throttling, and day to day my Lenovo Yoga which has only a 12th-gen i7 and Intel GPU seems to perform better and more reliably. I'm currently dealing with an intermittent 0.4GHz clock speed issue which keeps returning (randomly) despite 2 motherboard swaps. YMMV but if you look at the reviews these Precision laptops seem to have a ton of performance issues. There's just no way those tiny little fans can dissipate the amount of heat this thing produces (also the fans can be very distracting). What doesn't help here is the air intake - it's on the underside of the laptop and positioned in such a way that it's almost completely blocked if you use the laptop on your lap or a desk without raising it slightly. I guess it really depends how good a deal you're getting - personally, no way would I pay >£1k for this. TL;DR - great hardware, terrible cooling/power delivery. More on reddit.com

I am struggling to figure out why the 5570 is over double the price of the XPS17. The XPS17 has a better screen and graphics card. the XPS is marketed to prosumers and is designed as such: consumer components but in a nicer chassis. They have consumer GPUs (RTX) and non-ECC memory. They target developers, content producers, and knowledge workers. The Precisions are marketed to professionals who need it for CAD or engineering. They are truly workhorses that can be run heavily and stay productive. As such, the Precisions use pro-level GPUs (Quadros) and ECC (error correcting) memory. Those components are usually more expensive. Since professional businesses are the ones that buy Precisions, they are priced for them. BTW, you probably should be comparing that Precision to the XPS 15 - both are 15.6" laptops. FWIW, there is also a 17" Precision. If you want more advice, you should include what your intended purpose for the machine will be, because without that context, it's not possible to have a meaningful discussion about what you should be going for.
