r/Dell on Reddit: Dell Support Assist
December 31, 2022 -
Hello everyone, so I have been messing with Dell laptops for over a year now and a utility Dell offers is Support Assist. I have never downloaded it on any of the machines, but instead, I have Dell Command update.
So I guess I’m here to ask, is Support Assist better than Command Update? Also, what features does Support Assist offer that you have seen beneficial for yourself? I guess I am trying to justify if it should be downloaded when we image the laptops or a case by case basis.
(FYI, the laptops are all under warranty)

DSA provides other utilities while DCU only pulls driver and BIOS updates. DSA or DCU are useful when you're performing a clean installation, while DSA could be of some benefit for system maintenance. I run DSA on all my Dells but one. The Precision M3800 I've got, freezes seconds after logging in. The fans blow loud and the system is unresponsive for a second or two. After that it goes back to normal operation. Uninstalling DSA stops this behaviour and CPU activity calms down to idle around 1 percent. But with DSA installed, it runs between 2 to 5 percent. I don't know why this happens but it is as if DSA gives the M3800 indigestion. DCU runs fine however.

Hey manually update to the latest version of chipset and Bios version from dell's site and then follow this steps(as mentioned in here by Martin) but don't uninstall supportassist just clean files and download free version of Revo uninstaller to do 'advanced' clean uninstall of support assist through hunter mode. Restart pc and again install it through dells site...this perfectly worked for me.
