Id go for the thinkpad simply because Dell has been having QC issues lately although my XPS 15 7590 has held up well, plus I dont think theres much of a benefit of having an mx330 with an Intel XE gpu that beats it, so you should be better with that alone.

Basic things you can work around with to improve performance: NVMe SSD boot drive (at least 256GB) At least 16GB RAM (DDR4-3200) Repaste CPU and GPU (use high conductivity thermal paste, or PTM7950) Buy a cooling pad More intermediate stuff: Replace fan with a higher CFM one Convert a similar voltage fan from another model with higher CFM Stick on copper heatsinks to your VRMs Cut out holes on your back cover to let more air from cooling pad into your board Absolute insanity: Modify the heatsink to have more surface area to dump heat into Add a second fan and find a way to get it powered I did this absolute piece insanity to my Vostro 3400: My Vostro identifies as a gaming laptop in an Inspiron body😆 Laptop works fast and cool that power limits and architectural design of power management is the hard bottleneck.
