After I removed it, I looked and felt inside the brass valve body. I gently scraped away some deposits with a flathead screwdriver, then used a normal toothbrush all around the inside to make sure it was smooth enough for the new cartridge to slide in. I purchased an expensive genuine cartridge from Lowes. January 30, 2024 - If you have some crap like calcium build up since water was leaking by it can cause it not to seal all the way. Cut the water off, remove the cartridge again, lube it up like the other commenter says, but before you install it, put your finger in there (with a latex glove on or w/e) and make sure to rub around and make sure no debris is in there.

July 28, 2021 - Delat monitor cartridges are not the cheapest. I just realized this was monitor. Its probably going to run around 50-100 bucks. Sometimes the cartridge gets a little sand or calcium buildup which will cause it to leak. You gotta pull the cartridge anyway, so inspect it when you do.
My delta single handle shower faucet is leaking and I believe it is the cartilage that needs to be replaced from what I have researched. Is there a way to stop it from leaking without shutting my whole houses water off?

Long time ago, plumbers carried Seat Reamers for such circumstances, but doubtful that'd help with a more modern Delta fixture. First time I used a reamer and saved from ripping open the tile wall, it was one sweet victory.... Someone will be along with the right answer. More on reddit.com
