Hi all, I’m trying to find a shorter Delta spout that can be compatible with the rough in valve that’s already installed. Needs to happen rather urgently 😬

Just had my bathroom fully remodeled. This is the flow from the brand new Delta tub filler with the valve fully opened and the temp set in the middle. We’ve removed the filler, blasted it out with compressed air, cleaned it thoroughly, flushed the lines, reinstalled with no difference. Pulled the cartridge and checked it. It looks fine, but it’s hard to say if there could be anything in there. The shower head seems to work fine and we’ve had no issues with water pressure before. Any ideas? Should I just replace the cartridge?

I went through the same thing, and in my case it turned out to be the Delta cartridge. I found out it's designed to only output a max of around 3 GPM, even though the Delta valves have specs of 5-6 GPM. This made me both sad and angry. I couldn't believe what I was seeing compared to my 20 year old bathroom where the tub filled quickly. 2.5 GPM is great for a showerhead, but a typical tub needs around 6-8 GPM to fill quickly. You could make the argument that by filling a tub so slowly it wastes *more* water because by the time it finishes, the water has cooled and you need to add more. So there's really no reason for Delta to design their cartridges with this 3 GPM limitation. At first I blamed the faucet (tub spout). I thought maybe it was the 'water shaper' inside of it. I took that out, with very little improvement. But after testing the faucet/spout with and without the cartridge, the difference was night and day. Cartridge in = looked like your video Cartridge out / bypassed (with plug) = Niagara Falls I ended up modifying my cartridge and was able to get it to over 6 GPM with the cartridge in. I have a document with the steps I took to modify my cartridge, and the videos I watched, if you diagnose yours and think that might be the issue. (You just need to remove the cartridge from the equation using the Pressure Test Cap. Google Delta RP46078 for a pic of what it looks like) Do you know which cartridge you have? (Mine was RP46463 - Delta 17 series)
