Hi all, do you know any stores in DC with tons of desk chairs you can try out? I’m experiencing back pain and really need to upgrade my WFH infrastructure, but I don’t want to spend tons ordering something online that won’t be comfortable (they’re so expensive!). Searched the sub and couldn’t find anything.
I live in NW and don’t have a car, so DC recommendations would be most appreciated, although I’d consider getting a Zipcar if the right store is in the suburbs. Thank you!

All I can say is: buy a Herman Miller Aeron off Craigslist . You can get them for a third of the price brand-new with tags on them from reputable office furniture stores . It is the most ergonomic and comfortable chair I've ever sat in, and has saved my back from chronic sciatica. I do recommend spending the extra ~$50 for posture fit if you have pain in your lower back. Edit: I got mine from Max's Business Furniture (as linked above) - the salesperson I spoke to lives in Falls Church which is closer to me, so he let me come there to pick it up. They may be willing to deliver it to you, or have a salesperson that lives close by. They also have a warranty and allow returns.

It'll be a drive but if you don't mind buying something used/scuffed I can recommend Gerstel in Fairfax and Gaithersburg. I realized the other day that I was tired of sitting on a dining chair and wanted something ergonomic. I show up to their office by Merrifield and it's in a room with like 50 used office chairs hanging out in a big clump. 30 minutes of sitting on this and that later and I'm out the door with a Herman Miller Mirra in perfect working order for $250. It's already been a massive improvement in my WFH setup, I feel so much less fatigued at the end of the day.
