Ok, I'll be honest, some of these are great questions but a lot of them are just insane. This is more like a certification exam than an interview. This is complete overkill for like 99.9% of devops positions. That being said, it does accomplish exactly what you probably want bc if I was ever in an interview and someone asked me some of these questions, I would just politely decline the position and save us all some time. Not that I have a great track record of hiring candidates, but my favorite entry-level "DevOps" questions have run along the lines of: automation : Describe some projects you've made into repeatable processes. Rubric: they should talk about source control, scripting, CI/CD testing, amd collecting monitoring / benchmarking metrics. design : Whiteboard a typical project for a high availability service, say an API with a DB backend. Rubric: they should be familiar with load balancers, reverse proxies, some form of authentication, clustering. Then I'd ask what tools / commands they might use to collect system info and troubleshoot if the NOC called them about a DB alert in the middle of the night. behavioral : Tell us about a time you had a difference of opinion with another group and what you did to resolve the conflict. Rubric: mostly I like hearing that they gathered data and benchmarks to kindly help come to consensus on how to work together to improve operations, or at least keep records to CYA when something hits the fan. All of these are pretty open-ended, but will get them talking naturally but a little bit out of their comfort zone, mostly to confirm they have the skills and basic experience they put on their resume but also dig into some stories to help differentiate candidates.
