I recently had to remove a cast-iron tub. I decided to cut the tub in place, and remove it in sections. A trial cut using a 4" angle grinder proved the concept - but this job really called for a larger tool. So I chose the 7" DeWalt. My choice at the time was this DeWalt, or a similar Ryobi. Polishers have variable speeds, where as a grinder is ON/OFF. Their arbors may also differ slightly. Can you use a grinder as a polisher..? Yes, very very carefully and only if you're skilled. It's easy to burn through the clear/paint. More on reddit.com

I have a 4-6 inch cordless DeWalt and it works great, but I need a 7 inch for a specific job (that I'll do once) and then it will serve as a plug in angle grinder for welding projects (cutting, grinding, polishing, deburring etc). I usually stick to DeWalt, but since battery compatibility isn't a Factor here, I'm willing to go to another brand if need be.
