Are you trying to sand with the hook and loop pad itself? You know, you put sand paper on the other side of that. That pad should never wear out. If you are going through pads you are applying to much pressure. The weight of the sander does the work and your hand only guides it, not presses it down. Answer from earth1superman on reddit.com

I bought an assorted package of Mastercraft orbital pads. Tried them out for the first time recently on my DeWalt orbital.. they last less than 5 minutes before the velcro shreds and they no longer stick to tool. I tried two brand new pads and the same thing happened on both..They won't stick to the tool and there isn't even any wear on the grit.
Looking for pads that work well with DeWalt orbital that don't break the bank.
