I’ve been wanting a right angle die grinder for quite a while now but Dewalt doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to make one. Anyone have any insight on a good alternative or another brand that is compatible with the 20V system?

Just buy into the m12 stuff that’s what I did. I have all 20/60v dewalt also. I got into the m12 for the die grinders use them daily and abuse them. They hold up great. I’m a field service welder work on crusher and hot plants. Have yet to break one and have had them for 2-3 years now. The dewalt die grinder is junk and not worth $200 had to warranty mine the first month I owned it, that voided any further warranty and I’ve had issues with it since. Literally only good for a wire wheel

What are you using it for? I have the straight die grinder and I’m not crazy impressed by it. If you’re in a shop, air is probably your best bet. Dewalt also now has the 90 degree cut off tool which I have heard good things about

You can find accessories rated for high power tools at industrial suppliers. As other posters stated, you need the correct collet for 1/8 shank tools, too. ... That’s good to know. Ok, today is the last day I'm using my drill as a die grinder, tomorrow I'm gonna buy something from home depot that specifically for that purpose.
I don't want to even dip my toe into having multiple battery brands, I'd be homeless in a month if I so much as sniff a makita or milwaukee battery.
It looks like Dremel has some cordless options, but I'm worried about their power and longevity, all I'm gonna use it for is for chewing through metal, I wont use it too often but I want something that can turn some pretty hard metal into oatmeal if I need it to
TL:DR: What would a comparable dremel brand (or other rechargeable) die grinder be, compared to this one?

EDIT: UPDATE: thanks for all the comments yall I learned a lot! Today I bought a couple different rotary bits, I'm just gonna stick em in my drill and see how that feels. I got a "flap wheel" and a little carbide drum, I think they're both 1/8 though, didn't realize there were two sizes! And then when the 2500 rpm drill inevitably unsatisfactory, I'm gonna buy the dewalt because I'm a shameless brand whore

I don't think Dremel has anything similar. All of their tools max out at 1/8" shanks and are designed for small detail work. The Dewalt is 1/4". It's the one you want for the bulk removal of material. Outside of Milwaukee or Makita, the only other I can think of is Proxxon - https://www.proxxon.com/en/micromot/29860.php It's 12V (they still list as 10.8) though. And the battery system is just going to take you into their somewhat strange (but cool) line of tools.

Ok, I used to use Die grinders every day for work. We are talking at least 4-5 hours of usage a day. I can tell you a few things. At home I have a plug in dremel tool. It mounts 1/8 tools and works great. At work it wouldn’t last a week. The dewalt tool looks really nice and would probably last longer. But ergonomically it looks horrible and it’s heavy. At work we had three types of die grinders. Each with their own advantages, disadvantages, and usages. For light duty high precision work we used air pencils: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Astro-Pneumatic-1-8-in-56-000RPM-Pencil-Die-Grinder-AST218/300683196 They are light and cheap but will stall with any real pressure. For medium duty long term use we used motorized flex shaft grinders: https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/65488801 They will run all day long and are practically silent but will not cut deep. For the real cutting air is the way to go but don’t go cheap. I should mention I had a much older all black version of this grinder. As far as I know, 20 years later it still sees daily use. That said I don’t know if QC is still at that level. But as I said, at home I have a plug in dremel that does just fine for occasional cuts, light debur work, and some sanding.
