How can I track my DHL eCommerce shipment?

Who can I contact if I have not received my DHL eCommerce shipment?
I only recently started ordering international packages to Canada and I noticed that I've got a tracking number that works on the DHL site but not the Canada Post one.
As of 23 July I have this notification from DHL:
The shipment will be transported to the destination country/destination area and, from there, handed over to the delivery organization. (Homepage / online shipment tracking: http://www.canadapost.ca/cpo/mc/default.jsf?LOCALE=en)
But if I check the same tracking number on Canada Post I get:
We didn’t find an item associated with this number. Find out why. You can also edit this number.
Does anybody know why I can't track it in Canada? Is it still in transit between countries?
I had a parcel ship from Texas via dhl and I had a d tracking number they attempted delivery and a few days later I got a slip for it at Canada post and they charged me 15 bucks to pick it up.
Makes no sense.
