I bought some clothes that are being shipped from Australia to Canada and i received this email from [email protected] I have ordered from brands in the USA in the past that have shipped through DHL and i paid the duties and customs fees at my door on delivery. I Just want to make sure this is legit and that it is not some sort of scam? Do i have to pay through here or can i still pay upon delivery? They have sent me multiple emails and i have even gotten messages on WhatsApp. When i click the link it takes me to del.dhl.com. Im hesitant to pay as i usually get scam texts after making online purchases telling me to pay taxes etc. even when i click my tracking number and it shows me updates on the DHL site it doesnt show anything about having to make a payment first. What do i do?
I recently purchased a watch on chrono24 and its being shipped via DHL from Japan to Canada.
I received a text from DHL asking to pay a import duty payment. So here is my question to the community. Is this normal? I have purchased many items from other countries but the duty fee was later sent to me from the Canadian boarder services as a bill that I had to settle at a later time.
I was not expecting one from DHL directly. Makes me wonder if this is legit and if I can ignore it, as how is DHL able to charge duty fees? I don't want to later be hit by yet another bill from the boarder services. (also i know chrono warn there will be duty fees, im was fully expecting that just not from DHL)
Thanks in advance
EDIT: for anyone in a similar situation, it was a legit fee from dhl, they pay your duty fee for you. i had to pay it to complete delivery. ty to everyone who responded.
I sent a package containing clothing from US to Germany. It cost me $260 to send. It was "guaranteed" to be delivered by 12/3 (today is 12/5 and it's still unaccounted for). The recipient received a notice that they owe $70 in duties fees to receive the package and it has still not been delivered. When I contact DHL it's just automated generic replies. Today is a Friday and they aren't open again until Monday to actually talk to a person. My question is - will the package be held until the recipient pays the duties and then goes to wherever it's being stored to retrieve it? Obviously I don't want them to have to pay or go through a bunch of stress to get it, is there a way I can pay it for them and make sure it gets delivered? This is so frustrating...
Basically what the title says. I have a shipment coming in 2 packages. First package has no issue. 2nd pack when I Track it says I need to pay duty, but I never got an email with the total or link to pay.
emailed DHL on their website and called the help center, she gave me another email address to contact. Contacted the company I bought from too.
wtf else can I do to make sure DHL/customs doesn’t send my shit back
