DHL import duty payments
Import Duty Payment Required
Had a package set to arrive Wednesday but received a payment notice of $45
Unable to pay duty, DHL payment services down?
Videos
I recently purchased a watch on chrono24 and its being shipped via DHL from Japan to Canada.
I received a text from DHL asking to pay a import duty payment. So here is my question to the community. Is this normal? I have purchased many items from other countries but the duty fee was later sent to me from the Canadian boarder services as a bill that I had to settle at a later time.
I was not expecting one from DHL directly. Makes me wonder if this is legit and if I can ignore it, as how is DHL able to charge duty fees? I don't want to later be hit by yet another bill from the boarder services. (also i know chrono warn there will be duty fees, im was fully expecting that just not from DHL)
Thanks in advance
EDIT: for anyone in a similar situation, it was a legit fee from dhl, they pay your duty fee for you. i had to pay it to complete delivery. ty to everyone who responded.
I was just wondering if I actually had to pay it or if it's a scam. I already had to pay 32 dollars for shipping, so uum. I'm just kind of in denial about this right now. I have other pictures, but it won't let me attach them, I don't use reddit too often, sorry. I crossed out some stuff, so it may look a bit weird.
I don’t get it. Why is DHL charging me?? Didn’t the seller in the UK pay it when he shipped? I am US based btw.
Contacted seller and he said please pay in good faith I will PayPal you $45 later because right now he lacks funds.
Plot twist: while out today I get a message that it’s shipping today! My wife received it but I never paid the $45. So now that the package has arrived, do I still need to pay the$45? It said if not paid within 5 days that the item will ship back to the seller. But now that I have the item, how can they do that?
I feel quite confused by the whole situation, and the seller acting very desperate with his limited funds compounds it for me. He also mentioned that he needs me to pay the $45 shipping import fee or else the deal won’t go through, and he needs it for rent.
What happens if I don’t pay the shipping import fee? Keep in mind I have the package in hand already. Should I also tell the seller that he needs to pay the $45 fee? Or is the fee stuck under my name?
Thanks in advance!
