If you Google a tracking number, you'll get results for everybody who uses that sort of number. I believe FedEx and USPS use similar tracking numbers too, so they're only one click away from each other if one doesn't have it. More on reddit.com

DHL has multiple different tracking systems: DHL Express tracking: http://www.dhl.com/ (e.g. 10-digit DHL Express numbers, or 20-digit Europaket numbers). DHL Paket tracking: https://www.dhl.de/en.html (e.g. 12-digit DHL tracking numbers, or tracking numbers beginning with JJD) DHL Global Mail tracking: https://webtrack.dhlglobalmail.com/ (e.g. 20-digit numbers starting with GM). DHL eCommerce Asia tracking: https://dhlecommerce.asia/track/ The 12-digit and 20-digit non-GM tracking numbers will usually work on your local postal tracking site as well, at least when the package arrives in your country. While this is generally the case, I'd like to add in my experience with DHL from using Easonyes. The tracking number she gave me said "Shipment information received HONG KONG - HONG KONG" for a good 6 days, and when I enquired it with her, she said she shipped it, and was probably stuck in HK. I messaged DHL and they said they don't have the item. Literally ~6 hours later, I received the package. I received it sometime around t he 8th/9th of November. Tracking number still just says Shipment Information received nearly 20 days after I have already received the package.
So sometimes it is DHL's fault, but of course, it is less likely to be them.
