I’m assuming you’re playing solo and using what you find since not specified. Resist the urge to dump ALL your skill points in the “raise” skills. Yes having a massive army is nice, but useless if they’re made out of paper. Put points into the mastery skills as well to boost their HP and damage. Don’t go higher than a clay golem. They make excellent tanks. Remember your curses! Going all the way down to Decrepify can be a massive help for bosses. Speaking of bosses… You’ll probably make it through the game well enough till you get to the Act 2 boss. He’s demolishes summon necros. My last solo run I had to keep lvling till I hit 30 to use Decrepify on him. Gear, whatever gives you + skills. The wands at vendors can be very nice (and very expensive) so always check them out if you’re looking to upgrade. Don’t worry about tons of armor/defense, your army should be taking most of the hits. Diablo 2 early is pretty much potion spamming. Just go crazy on one damage spell and one type of minion. Then when you get a feel for what you like. Check a guide and use a reset.

Dying before level 10 is most certainly a skill issue. There isn't even really time for builds to become effective at that point and you can beat everything except andariel by beating them with your starting wand and chugging potions Might even be able to beat Andy that way too, but it would take foreverx2 There is certainly a proper way to build a necromancer, but that isn't going to matter at this point. You just need more time with the game to learn what you should and shouldn't run headfirst into
