I’m assuming you’re playing solo and using what you find since not specified. Resist the urge to dump ALL your skill points in the “raise” skills. Yes having a massive army is nice, but useless if they’re made out of paper. Put points into the mastery skills as well to boost their HP and damage. Don’t go higher than a clay golem. They make excellent tanks. Remember your curses! Going all the way down to Decrepify can be a massive help for bosses. Speaking of bosses… You’ll probably make it through the game well enough till you get to the Act 2 boss. He’s demolishes summon necros. My last solo run I had to keep lvling till I hit 30 to use Decrepify on him. Gear, whatever gives you + skills. The wands at vendors can be very nice (and very expensive) so always check them out if you’re looking to upgrade. Don’t worry about tons of armor/defense, your army should be taking most of the hits. What the title of the post indicates Diablo 2 Resurrected is the first game of this saga that I try, and of all the classes the necromancer is the one that most attracts my attention, and I wanted to know what is the best way to build a powerful one, I am looking for tips on skills, stats, equipment, etc, thank you very much.

So I play single player and was wondering what would you reccomend for skill/ stats for a pure summoner necromancer? I would prefer not to use revive monster.

I just beat Diablo on normal and was really frustrated with how all my minions kept dieing so fast where they usually just don't die. I have not reset my skills/stats yet and was thinking I would before Baal.

I am level 33, have been playing for a long time, but never played online and only gone through Baal in normal once.

Edit:

Thanks for all the help! The reason I favor pure summoner is because I have two small humans which sometimes means I can't click or take a potion as fast as I should, so being able to hang back and let the minions do the work gives me a buffer for staying alive.

Hey guys I'm relatively new to Diablo 2, I have a necromancer around level 21, but I was hoping you guys could show me a good and powerful feeling summon based build for the necromancer. I want as much emphasis on my minions as possible (little undead army) I was following one called army of darkness for a time, but I just thought I should see if there are better options.

July 20, 2021 -

Hey. I'd like to ask some questions in regards of either Summonmancer or Hybridmancer for Necromancer in D2.

The Fandom pages for those say that Skeletal Mage needs only 1 point. I could see that on Hybridmancer, but why not for Summonmancer? Don't we actually summon less horde if we don't put more points on the summoning?

It's been a DAMN while since I played a Necro, so I'd like to know. Thanks.

r/diablo2 on Reddit: Strongest Necro Build
February 26, 2021 -

Hello, I’ve restarted my PlugY quest since being banned for literally just trying to play Bnet at my office but that’s another issue... Anyways I have started a Necro and have been playing a full summoner build to this point and it has word very well /p7 into A2 around level 20 so far. I am wondering as I progress what is the strongest Necro build for later stages of the game I.E going pay nightmare into hell? Will this Skele, CG, Mages and Amp Damage build home up all the way through? Or will I need to move towards a poison move or some kind of bone build? And links and or advice would be awesome!

r/diablo2 on Reddit: What are some niche Necromancer builds?
April 7, 2024 -

All other classes have much more build diversity but necro has only 3(?). Summoner, Bone and Poison and all of them are just a way to make first corpse for Corpse Explosion. So are there any necro builds that are not centered around CE? No need to be meta or S or A build but just something that works and can complete at least Nightmare?

Mojomancer - Confusion/Dim Vision. It’s a lot of fun but don’t expect it to beat the game. Ebotd Necro - Necro that uses the chance to cast on kill from Breath of the dying to spam poison nova’s. With the right gear it can farm Hell Cows decently. Mage Lord - Summoning Necro that focuses on just mages. Lower Res and an infinity and you will be clearing the game at a slightly slower pace! Brandybear Necro - This one is pricey. Max all of Bone Spears synergies but not bone spears. Have Beast on swap and become a bear. Run around slapping people with Bonespears wearing Brand bow. Can also do it with Oath but Spirits don’t pierce. Will edit if I think of more.

You can run full bone spear fairly well without using CE (seeing as you normally don't even have the points to max all synergies) - the loss in killspeed isn't that high as with proper piercelines you already do massive damage. Build is of course super-streamlined: 1 in clay golem (so you keep a golem that you can summon with more +skills/+summons/...), 1 in CE and bone armor as "go through" and then just Spear + it's synergies. You can also run poison nova without the need for CE as by the time stuff starts dieing besically everything is dieing - of course CE is still convenient and powerfull, but you CAN instead grab a nice army of Revies. Doesn't change playstyle too much as the only real difference is what cleans up after poison drops everything low, Certainly non-meta and slow in kill speed, yet fun is a dagger melee necro: just stabb stuff to death - using curses and suimmons for safety. Skipping CE costs you a lot of killspeed, but that just means you'll curse a lot more (both in and out of game)

June 24, 2022 -

Looking for suggestions for a good build to do holy grail on a necromancer in D2R. While I have a lot of ARPG experience (15k hours POE, ~10k MedianXL, ~1k POD) I never really caught onto the vanilla D2 experience back in the day.

I don't mind if Necro isn't the most efficient build for grail, I've just always enjoyed the class as a whole. Would also consider any other build though. Thanks for the help in advance

Hey all, I'm doing my first playthrough on my necromancer right now. I'm at the tail end of act 2, and originally went in blind not caring too much about my build and experimented considering it's normal. I'm currently going for a skeleton army/bone build with no points in curses. I haven't faced too much trouble besides dying when my minions are dead. I did a scrub mistake however and wasted my respecs in act 1 lmao. At lvl 23, is my character able to catch up on a decent build before I'm able to respec in nightmare??

March 14, 2019 - If you dont have or cant afford to trade for high runes, then you're pretty much below the poverty line and don't have access to higher education or quality healthcare in the Diablo universe ... I think this is a joke, but whether he has access to Death's Web or not makes a big difference in terms of what builds are feasible.
