What the title of the post indicates Diablo 2 Resurrected is the first game of this saga that I try, and of all the classes the necromancer is the one that most attracts my attention, and I wanted to know what is the best way to build a powerful one, I am looking for tips on skills, stats, equipment, etc, thank you very much.
So I play single player and was wondering what would you reccomend for skill/ stats for a pure summoner necromancer? I would prefer not to use revive monster.
I just beat Diablo on normal and was really frustrated with how all my minions kept dieing so fast where they usually just don't die. I have not reset my skills/stats yet and was thinking I would before Baal.
I am level 33, have been playing for a long time, but never played online and only gone through Baal in normal once.
Edit:
Thanks for all the help! The reason I favor pure summoner is because I have two small humans which sometimes means I can't click or take a potion as fast as I should, so being able to hang back and let the minions do the work gives me a buffer for staying alive.
Hey guys I'm relatively new to Diablo 2, I have a necromancer around level 21, but I was hoping you guys could show me a good and powerful feeling summon based build for the necromancer. I want as much emphasis on my minions as possible (little undead army) I was following one called army of darkness for a time, but I just thought I should see if there are better options.
Use this, trust me. The guide is awesome, even for beginners. And I've completed the game (Hell Baal) solo with this build. td;dr: Don't waste your points in mages, put them in Corpse Explosion.
As far as simple but effective builds, I'd follow the Fishymancer that doctorsacred mentioned.
Essentially, max these in order: Raise Skeleton, Skeletal Mastery, Corpse Explosion.
Get a point in Clay Golem, Golem Mastery and Summon Resist as they appear. Get one point in Amplify Damage, and get Decrepify by 24 for bosses.
For stats, you probably won't have a reliably strong shield, so I'd avoid putting points into Dex, get Strength to about 60-80, put the rest into Vitality and don't touch Energy.
You can waypoint back and forth in Act one to visit/reset Akara until you find a Wand of +3 Raise Skeleton or +Raise Skeleton + Raise Mastery, etc. Try to find a preserved head with relevant +Skills as well. Besides that, do the usual of putting together gear that gives Resistances and Life and you should be all set.
Act 2 Mercenaries are your buddies, as their auras help your whole team. Act 2 Offensive Merc in Nightmare is your best friend.
That build can get you well into Nightmare/Hell before you need to look at expanding outwards. Works for Softcore or Hardcore.
I would echo the sentiment that generally Mages are not very strong, and I rarely see a need for Bone Armor.
What I mean is that when I played I got to about level 10, and I died many times to the point that It wasn't fun. Is this a skill issue, me not building my necro right or both.
What are the top builds (skill tree, etc) and which ones are you doing melee or magic caster damage with? What's your fav?
Tired of mining for High Runes with my lvl 87(?) CL sorc and so I decided it's time for a new build! Last time I did a necro it was a summoner probably 15+ years ago and I can't remember jack (mostly played Barb/Sorc). Anything helps
Edit: Single player using PlugY 1.14
Which build, summoner (which summons) or CE necro
Really does just depend on any balance changes this season and what type of build you like to play.
In S4 I made an elemental summon build with Mages and revives and it was amazing. Could annihilate maps, solo dungeons and was one of the best mini Ubers builds I’ve ever made.
Couple it with a cold merc from act 3, a half decent lower resist and you’ll batter some peeps 👍
Rn i'm playing poison and its fun but it seems to be quite expansive.
So far the build i liked the most is mages/b.golems with the scythe. 20 s.mastery, 1 warrior, 20 mages + 20 g.mastery and 20 blood golems. Plus oc the points in dsac and tp then dump in lower res. Really strong even on low budget but doesn't have a lot of points to spare in tp tho...
Merc A1 vigor with faith and the usual tank gear.
If fire golems recive a reasonable buff i will probably play those. Straight 20 mastery, 20 clay, 20 blood, 1 Iron, 20 fire, keeping out 1 clay, 1 blood and 5 fire.
Starting a Necro. First one. What are the best builds?
Hi everyone. D3 veteran here but I can already see D2R is much harder where builds can make or ruin your mid-end game. So far I am Level 8 and have everything in Vitality, Summon Skeleton, Boost Skeleton ( can't remember the name atm ) and Corpse Explosion.
I'm not sure where to go from here out. Would love to hear any suggestions for fun PVE builds.
Hi everyone, im a casual Diablo II LoD player, and im stuck currently at diablo's boss fight, im a Level 28 or 29 i believe and i have a lever 29 or 30 mercenary, im playing on the base difficulty, and i focus mostly on spawning things (i like to use iron golem, i have 5 skeletons and 4 mages) i have the weapon you get at the begging, and i used the upgrade you get somewhere in Act I for said weapon so i get a lot of boosts from it (i havent found a better one yet, thus why i didnt replace it) i need help beating him, what would you recommend?
Hey. I'd like to ask some questions in regards of either Summonmancer or Hybridmancer for Necromancer in D2.
The Fandom pages for those say that Skeletal Mage needs only 1 point. I could see that on Hybridmancer, but why not for Summonmancer? Don't we actually summon less horde if we don't put more points on the summoning?
It's been a DAMN while since I played a Necro, so I'd like to know. Thanks.
Not sure if it helps, but if you ever want to know the definitive guide to the "fishymancer", aka summon Necro, here it is. Nightfish basically became the authority on them back in the day.
Yeah, their damage just doesn't scale well past normal. 1 point with +skills is usually enough to get a couple ice mages out.
You're mainly using amp damage with a summoner and that doesn't help the mages.
It sucks, but something that was never really addressed.
Hi guys, I know it's 2026 but I've just started playing diablo 2 LOD for the first time and I'm a level 13 necromancer. Can you guys suggest me a good build. Currently I have 8 points in raise skeleton 2 in amplify damage and 3 in teeth. I also put a lot of my points in mana with some into dexterity.
Hello, I’ve restarted my PlugY quest since being banned for literally just trying to play Bnet at my office but that’s another issue... Anyways I have started a Necro and have been playing a full summoner build to this point and it has word very well /p7 into A2 around level 20 so far. I am wondering as I progress what is the strongest Necro build for later stages of the game I.E going pay nightmare into hell? Will this Skele, CG, Mages and Amp Damage build home up all the way through? Or will I need to move towards a poison move or some kind of bone build? And links and or advice would be awesome!
All other classes have much more build diversity but necro has only 3(?). Summoner, Bone and Poison and all of them are just a way to make first corpse for Corpse Explosion. So are there any necro builds that are not centered around CE? No need to be meta or S or A build but just something that works and can complete at least Nightmare?
I'm making a summon necromancer.
This is where I'm at now.
I have twenty points in:
- Raise Skeleton
- Skeleton Mastery
- Corpse Explosion
All other skills you see I have put 1 point in.
How would you proceed?
Looking for suggestions for a good build to do holy grail on a necromancer in D2R. While I have a lot of ARPG experience (15k hours POE, ~10k MedianXL, ~1k POD) I never really caught onto the vanilla D2 experience back in the day.
I don't mind if Necro isn't the most efficient build for grail, I've just always enjoyed the class as a whole. Would also consider any other build though. Thanks for the help in advance
You've played POE for 8 hours a day for 5 years straight?
there is a streamer around who finished first in holy grailing when d2r started, now doing a necro run.
He is mainly overgeared now using corpse explosion and his merc + curses.
Psn nova also works very well.
in the beginning summoning is a good start to kick you off.
I cant recall his name now but just search on yt necro holy grail. you get there.
One of the maybe more efficient classes if you just wanna spam pits is horker barb
Hey all, I'm doing my first playthrough on my necromancer right now. I'm at the tail end of act 2, and originally went in blind not caring too much about my build and experimented considering it's normal. I'm currently going for a skeleton army/bone build with no points in curses. I haven't faced too much trouble besides dying when my minions are dead. I did a scrub mistake however and wasted my respecs in act 1 lmao. At lvl 23, is my character able to catch up on a decent build before I'm able to respec in nightmare??
Hey guys and gals, I'm looking to try a Necromancer build for the first time ever, with the new ladder just starting, I figured now would be a good time to try it.
So i'm here to consult the community, what are some fun and powerful builds? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
So I am starting a fresh necro on single player, no gear for him. Do I go summoning or Poison? The guides I see is basically spamming teeth for a while the. Clay golem with iron maiden.
Can I go straight summoning and level on player 8? Or do I need to go poison?
