Most guides I see barely explain what I should spec into when I’m running a skeleton army build and I’m just putting it into my mana and my health at this point, any advice?

For most characters, you actually don't want ANY points in energy (mana). You'll get mana easier from equipment. The rule of thumb is "enough Strength and Dexterity to use equipment, everything else into vitality". You may feel safe behind that skeleton army now, but certain enemies will still hit you (usually with spells). Also, you can save some points, in case you find something good you want to equip.

Enough Strength for gear. Little bit of Energy until you get a Spirit sword and/or Insight. Rest into Vitality. Leveling wise? First benchmark is 25 strength to wear a belt for three rows of potions. 30 strength if you want a breast plate for Stealth (Tal Eth) runeword. Next benchmark is 43 strength for a crystal sword with Spirit runeword. Next benchmark is 47 strength for a kite shield with ancient’s pledge runeword. Next benchmark is 60 strength for a plated belt that will get you max potion rows. That will carry you from Normal, through Nightmare and even through Hell.

Skeletons and skeleton mastery are top priority. No skeleton mages though, they kinda suck. Clay golem is good and amp damage/decrepify will be your main curses. Then add in corpse explosion and summon resist. Those are all the skills I've invested in with my level 84 summon necro. More on reddit.com

Arm of king leoric is a summoners best friend If you can terror zone cows in nightmare you can probably find a monarch for spirit shield or you can get splendor in a necromancer head with good adds +skele +mastery Peasant crown until you get shako Honestly summoner doesn't need like any gear to progress through game If anything, on a level 23 character shop for teleport staff from ormus/drognan so you can tele-stomp with minions or there is a unique axe with tele charges -cant think of the name of it spellthief or something More on reddit.com

Don’t bother with Mage skeletons. Act 2 Nightmare get a Merc with might Aura. Amp damage is best curse but only put 1 point into it. Corpse explosion is OP, max it!! 1 point to bone armor. Everything else into raise skele, and skele mastery. Plus get clay golem and irons maiden before duriel. Too bad you aren’t on PC I have a lot of good necro starter gear that I would be willing to give.

May 17, 2023 - It’ll max your chances of getting a wand that is +2 raise skelly, +2 skeleton mastery. That wand alone will do you through until you can get a spirit sword. Decrepify is the best boss killer in the game. You can’t beat duriel wo it in normal, so make sure you’re lvl24 and get decrep first.

Get the Trangs set. It turns you into a skelly priest. Not the best stat wise but man it’s cool.

It’s a great way of experiencing the game for the first time. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to follow guides in the future, but you can only enjoy being a newbie once.
