Every time I am looking at historical names it is usually like "the most common names of the 1800s" or something.
But it is harder to find information about what would be considered a "quirky" or offbeat name. And what would be kind of eyebrow raising and which ones would have people going "wtf?!" like...Sage or Sunday vs Apple or Blanket or Pilot Inspektor.
I find naming conventions interesting. Like now, people want names that are less common, they don't want names that too many other people are going to have, and we tend to view history as "name them all John and Maria", but people did end up with some weird names.
If it is, say, 1890 and you named your daughter Meadow, is that unusual and pretty, or is it weird because it is not "Anna"?
Anyone have any weird history name knowledge to share, good websites to suggest, trivia you have heard about naming conventions?
What would you name your child if the year was 1890?
