r/DigitalMarketing on Reddit: What is the going rate for freelance digital marketing work?
November 3, 2023 -

What is the going rate for a freelance digital marketer? Specifically for small businesses.

I run digital marketing campaigns as a career and have quite a bit of technical experience. I've started branching out into some freelance work on the side by running a few simple marketing campaigns on the side for my friend's small business.

These are simple campaigns only on Facebook/Instagram, $100-$200 at a time to zero in on the best in-platform audience, but they are looking to get this up to $600 per month next month. I've run 3 of these at no cost, just to help my buddy out and get a bit more freelance experience. I've also helped them get their Meta ad accounts and Meta Business Manager accounts set up, as well as helped them get pixels added to their website.

He's mentioned that he wants to pay me moving forward to make it worth my while, as well as recommend me to other small business owners he knows.

The issue is, I don't know what to charge here. While I have the experience running large scale campaigns, I'm still relatively new as a freelance worker. I want the people who hire me to feel they've gotten their money's worth.

Any information on how much you charge would be very helpful. Thank you!

Nowadays, it’s no longer a case of IF you have a digital presence but HOW good you are at making the most of your digital presence so you can be, and stay, competitive. That’s where Internet marketing plays a critical role. Consumers are becoming increasingly sophisticated. They have higher expectations when it comes to the brands they engage with and the many ways they can be reached, such as video, email, search engines, and social media.

May 4, 2023 - Typically when you think of freelance services, you will understand charging by the hour. Perhaps you’ll even be familiar with a half-day or day rate at this point (a very popular choice with contractors of large corporations).
