Digital Marketing Plan/Strategy
Digital marketing strategy/plan is a little more complex to elaborate on in a doc form, I'll second you in that sense that it's often more effective to have a conversation with your team in order to get all the details out. Because it is best explained and elaborated with the help of a presentation. But let me try to help you write one down. So, first, the components. I always write it out first as a list: - Objective (What do we want to achieve?) - Target market (Who are we targeting?) - Channels (Which channels will we use?) - Tactics (How will we execute it?) - Budget (How much are we willing to spend?) - Timeline (When do we want to achieve our objective?) Then I start to fill in the blanks with more specific information: Objective: What do we want to achieve? This is where you'll state your overall goals for the campaign. Be as specific as possible. For example, rather than saying "increase brand awareness," you could say "increase brand awareness by X%." Target market: Who are we targeting? This is where you'll define your target audience. Be as specific as possible here. In addition to defining them by age, location, and income, you could also include interests, behaviors, and other factors. Channels: Which channels will we use? This is where you'll list out the specific channels you'll be using to reach your target market. In addition to social media, online advertising, PR, and email marketing, you could also consider using other channels like events, print ads, or TV commercials. Tactics: How will we execute it? This is where you'll get into the nitty-gritty of how you'll execute your campaign. For each channel, you'll want to list out specific tactics you'll be using. For social media, this could include things like the number of posts per week/month, running paid ads, or partnering with influencers. For online advertising, this could include things like targeting key demographics, using Google AdWords, or retargeting website visitors. Budget: How much are we willing to spend? This is where you'll allocate a budget for your campaign. Be sure to allocate enough to cover all of your planned tactics. Timeline: When do we want to achieve our objective? This is where you'll set a timeline for your campaign. Depending on your objectives, you may want to set a shorter timeline for things like generating sales leads, or a longer timeline for things like increasing brand awareness. Additionally, I always prepare (and also indicate it in the plan) plans B, C, and D (if you get my point) in case something goes wrong or a channel/tactic doesn't work out. I prepare a part where there are solutions to problems that might occur. Hope this helps! :) More on reddit.com

This should give you a good estimate on what topics you should include in your marketingplan.

Offcourse some topics might be not applicable based on the type of organisation.

Anywhere to see real marketing plans?

Someone else asked this 7 or 8 months ago and I said I would send it to them. I received 200+ emails from people asking to see my plan. So I created a post where you can download it! I deleted my personal info and it's pretty much just the template I use, but it is a good starting point.

The thing to keep in mind is that almost every company will have a different marketing plan. It really depends on what you use to measure or track your marketing success/failure. I'm in the software business so I want to know how many leads were generated from a particular campaign, how many of those leads are qualified buyers, how many sales opportunities were opened up as a result of that campaign, how many sales did we have and how much did it cost to acquire that sale (ROI).

r/DigitalMarketing on Reddit: Digital Marketing Plan/Strategy
February 3, 2022 -

Hi everyone! So my boss has tasked me to create a complete digital marketing plan.

I can strategize and discuss it all I want but when it comes to putting it on paper (doc), I can't for the life of me figure it out. It's perhaps because I've never had to do it before.

Google is of no help too. The more I google, the more anxious I get as all I get seem like vague solutions to me and make the problem even worse for me.

Has anyone ever put together a plan before? Can you share a template? Can you guide me on how to go about it?

Any help at this point would be lifesaving.

Thank you.

Digital marketing is a much broader term than you’d think. And what I might consider a plan might be different from your organizations needs or what another professional here might make. The plans or strategies I make generally start off as a bunch of random google docs and evolve into a deck. In the deck explains how each digital channel aligns with your goals. Think of it like writing a paper. You start with your thesis (challenges/goals), followed by the current state of things. The current state might highlight current website data like leads, clicks, etc. from there, you break out the channels you think will achieve those goals. Channels being: content, SEO, social media, email marketing, paid media, web content, etc. Not every channel needs to be included in your plan, so you basically strategize how you’ll use different channels to achieve your goals. My hunch is that your company doesn’t have the capacity to manage paid media, but you could lean into email marketing, SEO content marketing, or something else. I’ve put together dozens of these. You can present it as a deck or simply as a dock. But it sounds like your boss simply wants to push for your company to embrace digital, so you may as well start big and scale back based on budget and bandwidth.
