Round is the way to go for this space and you can still found one with leaves. I got mine 3 years ago from Ashley Furniture. Go into the store because they’ll knock a few hundred dollars off. I would like it but it’s counter height. You have an absolutely gorgeous home! More on reddit.com

After 15 years with 3 kids, I have tried expensive thinking quality furniture “can take what we dish out,” and I’ve tried cheap so “I don’t feel bad if it gets wrecked”. Neither worked for me— I stressed too much about the INEVITABLE damage to the expensive furniture, and the cheap stuff looked and functioned exactly as expected (not well). I’ve been happiest with quality furniture bought secondhand off FB marketplace. That way I can pick something of substantial quality so doesn’t feel disposable, but also I don’t feel like I’ve got money sunk into something that can’t be changed out if needed. If we beat it to the point I don’t like looking at it, I put it back up on FB and someone will buy it, and I pick something else for our next era. More on reddit.com

I would check out estate sales and consignment stores for a nice solid wood table. Many people these days are downsizing so you will likely have good luck in finding a beautiful well, taken care of table. More on reddit.com

This is our only dining space in our new build. It’s 10x10 that is met with an island and cabinets on the other end. We will have bar stools at the island. I have searched tirelessly to try to find a dining table on Amazon, Rooms to go and Wayfair (under $800 if possible including chairs with cushion) that would fit here that would accommodate all of us at one table. I’m open to round or rectangular. Table needs to be standard height as we are getting rid of our taller table.
Do you know of any expanding tables with leaves? It would be great to have the table set for 4/5 people but when family is over, we could expand if needed. (We are a family of 4, about to be a family of 5 this week as I am having my c section on Thursday). We have the grandparents over frequently, about once a week. Any direction or links for a magical table would help!
Just as a side note, our current living room furniture is gray with a blue rug and blue artwork for the walls. White end tables. I think we would eventually be moving into natural wood color that matches the floor or an espresso color to match the banister. Open to all of it!

I would consider putting in a corner banquette, then getting a pedestal table that could expand for 2 leaves. Similar to this . But in your style. My mom had something like this. Sat 4 very easily, 5 as well. We used one leaf if we had 6 people, or 5 with a lot of serving dishes on the table as well. With both leaves, it would comfortably seat 8 and could accommodate 10. Like a tight Thanksgiving dinner.
