Opened a Discover Bank account on recommendation of a friend. Tried to mobile deposit a big check which they refused. Told me the mobile deposit limit is $500. So I connected my credit union account and transferred several thousand dollars. They refused again. So I called customer service and the SUPER cheerful lady with the Indian accent explained that my account (because it's new) has a total deposit limit of - get this - $500 PER MONTH. She further informed me, still cheerfully, that no, they could not increase that, but that "the limit will gradually increase over time, but not on any set schedule". I explained to her - not at all cheerfully - that that would certainly work for me if I was a child, but having an actual job, I needed to work with somewhat larger numbers, and since she was powerless to give me any useful information whatsoever, I would be opening an account elsewhere. What's even more ironic is they offered a $150 bonus if I deposited 15k in the next 6 months. Clowns.🤡

Also, I thought Discover had a $200 bonus. Don't you have enough to get the max bonus? Don't pass up the bonus. They have an address to mail a check. I've done it. It works. Get the bonus, and then leave them because of its restrictive policies, but don't hurt yourself because you don't want to use a stamp. Here's the address for deposits. It's the middle one when you scroll down aa bit https://www.discover.com/online-banking/contact-us/ You don't want to pay for the stamp, you can PUSH the money from your CU, but I find that pushing can have its own stingy limits.

November 10, 2008 - Then he sent an email (which is fake) showing me some spoof of an application email from Discover and needed me to follow the link to confirm my identify. That's when I asked, "hmm, do you have the phone number for the Discovery security team?" That's when he hung up and I knew I was being scammed. I immediately called the real number for Discover security to cancel the loan application and contact the fraud team. Please beware of this scam. When I googled the phone number, it comes up as a legit discover number.
