I know this subreddit is mainly focused on credit cards, but I posted this here since it's from discover. I myself have the discover it credit card, and I realized they have a HYSA with 4.30% APY.

Yes, it’s a good rate. I personally don’t bank with my credit card issuer though. If you have fraud on your account or they suspect you of committing fraud then the standard practice at banks is to shut down all of your accounts at that bank. This could be for a few days or a few months. This is also why I don’t keep all of my money in the same bank.

Hi everyone! I use discover for my credit card and was thinking about switching my checking and creating a High Yield Savings account with them. Any thoughts or advice on switching? I wanted to have multiple savings accounts to save for different things, does discover make this easy to do?

I have had a Discover HYSA for years and never had a problem. They were a little quick to lower APY earlier this year, but it's still competitive. Also recommend AMEX HYSA as another option.

I’ve had the checking & HYSA(s) for about a year and no issues. Easy to open more than 1 HYSA to keep buckets for different savings. Only caveat, if important to you, is they don’t allow Zelle until account is 90 days old. Not sure if any different since you’re already a CC customer? 🤷‍♂️ other than the Zelle bit, decent online banking.

I went to check on my Discover bank account and the interest rate on the savings account has dropped again. It is now 4.25%.

If they drop below 4% I'm switching. I've got brand loyalty, in the grand scheme .1% isn't the worst, but I agree with the sentiment that they're quick to tell us when rates are raised, yet don't bother mentioning when rates drop.

That’s the last straw for me. Two rate decreases in what, 2 months? And they don’t even have the decency to tell us.

So I never go above the 6 withdrawal limit on my savings account although, I know they don't enforce it. Today after I did my last transfer, I got this message. So I called Discover CS, just to clarify, I was told by the CS rep, that the enforcement is discretionary, meaning that as long going above the 6 withdrawal monthly limit is not a recurring thing, I shouldn't worry, but if is recurring then I can still get my account shutdown.

Yeah the Fed's rule is they're not enforcing 6 but banks themselves can choose whether or not they do.

I've broken the limit every month for almost a year now. Usually do 15+ transactions. Spoken to support reps and they tell me they've seen people doing 30+ withdrawals every month without consequences, they said don't worry about it so I don't.
