The Discover it® Cash Back Credit Card is a rewards credit card that allows cardholders to earn 5% cash back on everyday purchases at different places they shop each quarter—such as grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, and more—up to a quarterly maximum when activated, plus 1% cash back on all other purchases. This rotating bonus category feature is designed to align with common spending habits, and the current categories for 2026 include grocery stores, wholesale clubs, and select streaming services for the first quarter.
A key benefit is the Unlimited Cashback Match, which automatically matches all the cash back earned during the first year, with no minimum spending or maximum reward limits. For example, $150 in cash back could be matched to $300. The card also offers a 0% intro APR on purchases for 15 months, after which the standard variable APR of 17.74% to 26.74% applies based on creditworthiness. There is no annual fee, and cash back rewards do not expire for the life of the account.
The Discover it® Student Cash Back Card is tailored for college students, offering the same 5% cash back on rotating quarterly categories and 1% on all other purchases, with the same Unlimited Cashback Match benefit. It is available to those with fair to good credit and requires no credit score for application. The Discover it® Secured Credit Card is designed for individuals with limited or poor credit, requiring a refundable security deposit that determines the credit line, with no minimum credit score needed. After six consecutive on-time payments, the deposit may be returned, and the card also offers 2% cash back at gas stations and restaurants on up to $1,000 in combined purchases each quarter.
Additional features include free card lock and replacement via the Discover app or website, free dark web monitoring for Social Security numbers, and the ability to use the card abroad without foreign transaction fees. Cash back can be redeemed in various ways, including statement credits, direct deposits to bank accounts, gift cards, or donations. The Discover it® platform also includes other cards like the Discover it® Miles, Discover it® Chrome Gas & Restaurants, and NHL® Discover it®, each with unique rewards tailored to different spending patterns.

Got my Discover It Secured Card a few days back. Trying to make a plan on my spending
There is no 10% spend rule. You can use as much of you limit as you need or want during the month. People confuse usage with utilization.
What matters is the last part of your plan, the reported utilization. Everything is great there, except bring your balance to $5-$20. That will be under 10%, and you won’t run the risk of it being reported at $0 if over $5.

Opinions on the Discover It Credit card??

Hello, I don’t currently have a Discover card and have just went down a rabbit while looking into them lol. I’m just wondering is this card a good card to get for the 5% categories as well as the first year match and 0% apr? For reference I currently have an Amex Gold, Amex BCE, Chase prime visa and two Navy Fed credits cards. So I have some pretty decent cards with different spend categories already but for some reason the Discover card has caught my eye, if even just to rake up on spending for the first year and when the 5% categories are great. Any feedback or recommendations would be great! Thanks in advance 😊
