May 19, 2000 - I like the premise: An iguanadon named Aladar and his adopted family of monkeys walk to find a new home after their's was destroyed by a meteorite to find themselves in a conflict by joining the other dinosaurs led by Kron and Neera while being chased by Carnotaurs and velociraptors. It was very interesting, but Disney, being a master of storytelling, didn't bring anything new to the story and it's character development was lacking.

To promote the release of Dinosaur, the Disney theme park ride "Countdown to Extinction" was renamed "Dinosaur", and its plot, which had always prominently featured a Carnotaurus and an Iguanodon, was mildly altered so that the Iguanodon is specifically meant to be Aladar, the protagonist of the movie, and the plot of the ride is now about a human scientist traveling through time to a point just before the impact of the meteor which caused the extinction of the dinosaurs, to bring Aladar back to the present and save his life.

In my opinion this is the black sheep of Disney's experimental era (which is Disney canon movies released from 2000 starting with Dinosaur and ending in 2009 with Prince and the Frog) because recently on YouTube this movie got more hate like you probably know Schaffrillas Production or Ls Mark ( who is an Irish Youtubers by the way) both of them ranked this movie dead last on their Disney ranking list (Which is the reason I motivate to watch this).

Does Anyone Remember the Movie "Dinosaur" (2000) which is a live-action/computer-animated film by Disney? It was one of Disney's live-action and a mix of computer-animated alongside films like The Wild and so on. The story is about a young Iguanodon who was adopted and raised by a family of lemurs on a tropical island. After surviving a devastating meteor shower, the family moves out for their new home and befriends a herd of dinosaurs along the way while on a journey to the "Nesting Grounds". I remember watching this as a kid on VHS and being completely creeped out by the designs of the dinosaurs. I rarely see anyone speak about this film at all.

I remember seeing it as a kid and thinking even at the time that it was just Tarzan with extra steps. Now I recognise it as a failed hybrid script of several key tropes popular at the time. Animation was creepy and poorly done but probably groundbreaking or something.

I recently rewatched this, it's not terrible but it doesn't really hold up. The lemur characters literally don't do anything and Aladar has an Oliver Twist issue where he is too good and noble to be interesting. For the time the animation was impressive, but today the only thing that still looks good is the scenery. 5/10
